Joyce E. Gray, loving sister, devoted mother and friend to many passed away peacefully on July 6, 2024, in Cortlandt Manor, NY.
Joyce was born November 27, 1934, in Ellenville, NY. She is the daughter of the late Paul and Evelyn (Smith) Berg.
Joyce grew up in Ellenville NY and was a 1954 graduate of Ellenville High School where she was a member of the glee club and a band majorette.
After high school Joyce worked for the telephone company until moving out west. She lived in Reno Nevada, Moses Lake Washington and Oregon before settling in Wappingers Falls, NY in 1965. Here she raised her children in the neighborhood where she made lifelong friends.
She worked at IBM in Poughkeepsie for 15 years retiring in 1993.
She truly enjoyed the simple things in life: time with family, time with friends, and was well loved by all that knew her.
She was very active in the senior community where she lived for over 20 years. There she led exercise classes as well as many other activities.
In her later years, Joyce lived with her daughter and was surrounded by her cherished grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Roger (Lori) Gray of New Paltz, NY, and Pamela (Ralph) Rohl of Wallkill, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren Tyler (Alexandria) Puff of Florida, Torey (Valen Garrison) Puff of Pine Bush NY, Tanner (Veronica) Puff of Wallkill NY, Kristen (Miguel) Felicien of Brookfield CT, and David (Elizabeth) Gray of New Paltz NY.
She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Kennedy, Lorelei, and Grayson.
She is predeceased by her sister Genevieve Miller and her granddaughter Tanya Puff.
Calling hours will be held from 1:00pm-3:00pm on Saturday July 13th, 2024, at the Copeland-Hammerl Funeral Home located at 162 S. Putt Corners Road in New Paltz.
A service will follow after at 3:00 pm.
A reception will be held at the family’s home after the service.
