BREWSTER – In case you missed Sunday’s performance of the Putnam Chorale’s Summer Ensemble United Songs of America in Brewster, the concert will again be performed on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on the grounds of the Graymoor estate, hosted by the Franciscan Friars and Sisters in Garrison and on Sunday at St. Joachim Church in Beacon at 3 p.m.

Spanning multiple American genres, from patriotic to popular, the concerts include Charles Ives’ choral work; Peter Wilhousky’s stirring arrangement of ‘The Battle Hymn of the Republic,’ and Randall Thompson’s ‘The Testament of Freedom.’ In addition, classics from the American Songbook including ‘I’ve Got Rhythm,’ ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow’ and other popular favorites will round out the program.

Putnam Chorale Music Director Jason Tramm noted the music selected for this year’s Summer Ensemble is a “celebration of the uniqueness of American choral music. From the great maverick composer, Charles Ives, to wonderful arrangements from the American Songbook, the program is a joy for all audiences.”

The Putnam Chorale begins its fall rehearsal season in September and is actively seeking singers to join its group. No audition is required, although prior experience singing with a choir, chorale, or other musical organization is required.

Nick Simonelli, president of the Putnam Chorale said, “Many of our singers join us after a long absence from singing. Other new members are looking for a more professional setting with advanced vocal coaching. The Putnam Chorale offers our community a unique experience, combining the leadership of a highly experienced musical director like Jason with the conviviality of a group of people that love to sing for the joy of doing so.”
