Wallkill East Rotary continues scholarship program in 2024

MIDDLETOWN- Wallkill East Rotary awarded financial scholarships to six Orange County high school students to assist in their advanced academic pursuits this coming fall. The scholarship recipients were selected based on a combination of academic achievement, a written essay, demonstrated leadership, initiative, and service to their school and community. All students reside in the Town of Wallkill or the Town of Crawford.

“This year was extremely difficult selecting our scholarship winners,” said Bela Gesztesi, vocational service chair for Wallkill East Rotary.  “We received a record-breaking number of highly competitive applications — all with advanced academic and service profiles.  Congratulations to all this year’s winners.”

This year, Here’s Help Staffing and Recruiting joined forces with Wallkill East Rotary in awarding a five-hundred-dollar scholarship to Pine Bush High School senior Mackenzie Todd, to pursue her studies at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh.  “Supporting a local student and future leader was our organization’s goal as we decided to create a Here’s Help scholarship,” said Cathy Parlapiano, President, Here’s Help.

Awardees of two-thousand-dollar scholarships were presented to:

Ivana Johnson (Pine Bush High School) who will attend at University at Albany.

Dominick Gesztesi (Burke Catholic High School) who will attend Fairfield University.

Aaron Schoenberg (Pine Bush High School) who will attend Rochester Institute of Technology.

In cooperation with Pratt & Whitney, Wallkill East Rotary presented a twenty-five-hundred-dollar STEM scholarship Pine Bush High School senior, Lillian Gabriele, who will attend Georgia Southern University

In cooperation with Crystal Run Health Care, Wallkill East Rotary presented a three-thousand-dollar scholarship to Breanna Omosebi, a Pine Bush High School student who will attend St. John’s University.

“Supporting the future leaders within our community is a priority for Wallkill East Rotary,” said Gesztesi.  “We look forward to welcoming these students back to hear about their academic pursuits.”

Each year Wallkill East Rotary invites High School students who reside in the Town of Wallkill or the Town of Crawford to apply for academic scholarships.  For more information please contact Bela Gesztesi at bgesztesi@msn.com.
