Kate Beckinsale has shed light on her recent hospitalization, revealing that she ‘burned a hole in her oesophagus’ after an awful few months.

Earlier this year, the Underworld actress’ stepdad, Roy Battersby, died while her mom, Judy, also battled health issues.

The 50-year-old then sparked concern from fans after she shared a string of Instagram photos from her hospital bed at Cedars Sinai in LA.

She kept quiet about the reason behind her treatment, and has appeared to delete any mention of her illness on social media.

However, underneath her latest upload – showing her posing in the mirror in a pink top and matching bikini bottoms – the Hollywood favorite slammed a follower for suggesting that she ‘does some squats’.

In the comments section below, K4tobin told her: ‘Go do some squats @katebeckinsale I think ur ass ran away [sic].’

Having absolutely none of it, Kate spat: ‘No, actually, I watched my stepfather die quite shockingly, my mother has stage 4 cancer, and I lost a lot of weight from stress and grief, quite quickly.’

‘And then I was in hospital for six weeks because the grief had burned a hole in my esophagus [sic] which made me vomit copious amounts of blood, and I found eating very hard.

‘And I just worked very, very hard on a movie that was actually quite triggering because it also involved the theme of the death of my father so I’m not really concerned about what you think about my ass.

‘Maybe you should worry about your own f**king ass. I suggest shoving something up it-like a large pineapple or a brick.’

Other followers rushed to her defense, with Meeker714 insisting: ‘You have more true fans who appreciate you than haters. Always know this.’

Kate added: ‘Oh I love my followers I really do -some of them are such incredible decent supportive brilliant souls of me and of each other.

‘I actually have a problem with two people who keep making multiple accounts so don’t be fooled. A lot of this is them.’

This is the first time the star has properly addressed the concern over her condition after she posted pictures and videos from hospital – which have since been deleted.

Up Next

Kate has had a tough time of it following the loss of her stepdad – she has also been grieving the death of her beloved cat, Clive, who died last June.

She later unveiled a tattoo tribute to her feline on her arm, showing a portrait of Clive surrounded by stars.

In another Instagram post, she revealed how she managed to cope during her lowest moments, thanking a pal for remaining by her side.

The videos showed Kate taking the opportunity to moon the streets of London as she let off some steam in the most hilarious way possible.

She added alongside the clips: ‘The day after Clive died and I received some of the most horrific news I’ve ever received that next morning.

‘Sometimes there’s nothing for it but for your friend to show up as hard as possible and spend the evening making prank calls and mooning Harvey Nichols because sometimes when the bottom falls out of your world the only response after crying till you’re sick is your own bottom.

‘@nina_kate I’ll never forget you jumping into the fire with me x.’
