Gypsy Rose Blanchard – known for planning the murder of her mother in 2015 after being subjected to years of medical abuse at her hands – just announced that she’s pregnant.

The Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup star, 32, is expecting her first child with her boyfriend Ken Urker, 31, who she has been dating for a few months.

Blanchard first broke the news in a video titled I’m Pregnant, My Journey So Far on her YouTube channel.

She says in the video: ‘I know the rumors have been flying around for quite some time now and I’m happy to announce that I am 11 weeks pregnant.’

‘Ken and I are expecting our very first child come January of 2025,’ she continues.

‘This was not planned at all, it was completely unexpected, but we’re both very excited to take on this new journey of parenthood.’

She also addresses concerns that the trauma from her mother will inhibit her ability to be a parent, saying later in the video: ‘I know that there are going to be people who feel like Im not ready to be a mother, and I don’t know if anyone’s really ready to be a mother.’

‘All the things that I wanted in a mother, I want to give to this baby,’ she says, tears streaming down her face.

‘I am a mother now, I am happy, and I just want to be a good mother for my child. I want to be everything my mother wasn’t.’

Blanchard was released from prison on December 28, 2023 after pleading guilty to second degree murder and serving seven years of a 10-year-sentence.

In 2015 Gypsy asked Nicholas Godejohn, who she met online and was dating, to kill her mum Clauddine ‘Dee Dee’ Blanchard.

Dee Dee, who suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, spent years convincing her daughter she was ill, even going so far as to inflict various surgeries on her and give her medication she didn’t need.

She also claimed her daughter had a limited mental capacity and kept her underfed in order to keep her physically small.

Gypsy’s story was the subject of the 2019 US Hulu hit series The Act as well as multiple documentaries.

Dee Dee’s abusive fabrications were convincing enough to earn free tickets to Disney World, backstage passes to concerts and media attention, with Habitat for Humanity even building the family a home with a wheelchair ramp and other amenities.

After Blanchard was convicted for her role in her mother’s murder, she started a relationship with her current boyfriend Urker, who was one of her pen pals in prison.

They broke up prior to her release, and Blanchard later married her now ex-husband Ryan Anderson while still in prison.

More recently, Urker and Blanchard rekindled their romance. She told People: ‘Ken and I reconnected as friends. It wasn’t like, jump out of a marriage and then let me meet up with you, and boom, we’re in a relationship,’ she said.

‘We had kept a friendship for the longest time. He was in a relationship. I was with Ryan, and so we were living different lives with respect to our partners, a “wish you the best” type of thing.’
