As the summer holiday season slowly ramps up, one mum who has appeared on various reality TV shows has shared that she’s already spent £30,000 this year on luxury holidays for her one-year-old.

Jodie Weston, an influencer and DJ from London, previously took part in Channel 5’s Rich Holiday Poor Holiday and Rich Kids Go Skint, which she revealed taught her an ‘important lesson’ in embracing the little things in life.

Now, the 30-year-old has shared that she isn’t yet ready to give up on her opulent taste in travel, flying first-class everywhere she goes.

This year alone, Jodie has taken her one-year-old son Koa to St Lucia and Budapest, as well as Legoland Windsor and Chessington World of Adventures.

The escapades don’t stop there – Jodie has also planned a five-star staycation in the Cotswolds, and a few days later they’ll be travelling to Italy for some rest and relaxation in an eight-bedroom mansion. The price tag for this alone? It’s an eye-watering £10,000.

However, she doesn’t believe that her son is spoilt at all – just that he’s deservedly living a ‘life of luxury.’

‘He’s too young to know what being spoilt is, we are just enjoying the high life,’ Jodie, who has 216,000 followers on Instagram, told What’s The Jam.

The costs don’t stop there, though. Jodie buys him a new wardrobe for each trip – a combination of designer items as well as practical ones.

‘It’s cost me about £2,000 this year, but I don’t care,’ she shares.

‘I’m a sole parent, so I obviously overcompensate. But if you’ve got it, then flaunt it.’

Taking to sharing her adventures online, Jodie is often plagued by hate, which she notably received when she spent £7,000 on a trip to Disneyland Paris to mark Koa’s first birthday.

She’s also constantly attacked for taking work trips away from her son, which comes with the territory of working in the music scene. This year alone, she’s been to Ibiza twice and has another flight to Cyprus booked.

‘I mean, I’m a DJ and a mum, that in itself is a clash of two complete[ly] opposite lifestyles,’ she shares.

‘I’ve always lived my life as a unicorn. I still have an identity, I’m the sole breadwinner and I want to continue on with my career.

‘When a woman has a child, society expects her to stay at home all the time and never take any time for herself.

‘But I think I’m a better parent for it; and I even get to squeeze in a pedicure or massage to make the most of my alone time.’

For now, Jodie is enjoying ‘living it large,’ and in the future is planning to incorporate education into their holidays to make sure he gets something out of his experiences.

‘When he’s older, I’ll take him on more farm trips around the UK to teach him some values and to appreciate everything he’s got and is able to do,’ she concludes.

‘The people who judge me aren’t usually parents themselves yet, so they can’t really have an opinion.

‘More often than not, they’re just jealous of me and my ability to not conform – but that’s their problem, not mine.’

Jodie isn’t the only parent in the limelight who has been criticised for treating her son.

In 2021, the stars of Netflix’s Bling Empire Christine Chiu and Dr Gabriel Chiu hit the headlines for spending $1 million on their baby’s first birthday party, which was hosted at Cayton Children’s Museum in Santa Monica and included access to a whole wing of the institution.

Though the fee included a donation to the museum itself, paid forward so that other children could enjoy the exhibitions too via the Chiu Fun-for-All fund, the details of the party were major – including a claw-grabber machine with Gucci bags as prizes, a rollercoaster, a ferris wheel, and various live performances.

‘We feel very blessed to be able to have this opportunity, to hopefully teach Baby G, at a very young age, the importance of giving back and the importance of sharing and the importance of equality,’ Christine told party guests in her speech, as per reports in Screen Rant at the time.
