Coronation Street and Emmerdale have urged fans to be mindful of online scammers.

Soap stars including Lisa Riley (Mandy Dingle) and Daniel Brocklebank (Billy Mayhew) have warned their Instagram followers to be careful after being targeted in an identity scam.

In a new statement on Twitter/X they wrote: ‘Please be mindful that the Coronation Street and Emmerdale actors are often impersonated on social media platforms by scammers who set up fake accounts on platforms such as Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok and Telegram.

‘As producers of both programmes, we feel we should warn viewers that this is happening, and noticeably more frequently of late.

‘Please take great care when conversing on social media and be vigilant about these fake accounts by reporting them to the appropriate platform.’

The UEFA European Football Championship 2024 kicks off tonight at 6:30pm and will begin a month long disruption to our beloved soap instalments.

The championship takes place every four years, though the last one was held in 2021 due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

As schedules are only published so far in advance, we only know what’s happening over the next two weeks for now. There will be a total of 51 matches overall.

Firstly, Scotland takes on Germany in host city Munich – and on Monday (17th), its Australia v France.

The next time we will catch up with the residents of Emmerdale and Weatherfield will be on Tuesday (18th), with an hour-long edition of each broadcast.

In the Dales, we’ll see Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson) and Moira Barton (Natalie J Robb) visit Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) in prison after he was wrongly locked up for stabbing Samson Dingle (Sam Hall).

Meanwhile, on the Street, Toyah Habeeb (Georgia Taylor) struggles on the day of baby Rose’s funeral and seeks comfort in Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) again, as Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) continues to shut off from the world.
