A man’s stag do left The Hangover looking tame after he and seven friends were jailed after a mass brawl with waiters.

Connor Lorimer, 29, was thrown in the cells along with his best man, and all eight of them had to pay £850 to be released on bail in time for the wedding just 48 hours later.

Despite the eventful lead up, childhood sweetheart Lauren, 29, went ahead with the wedding to construction boss Connor – and sang an ironic rendition of ‘Blame It On the Boogie’ for guests along with the DJ.

The brawl broke out at 7.30pm on Wednesday last week at a beach club restaurant called Balneario Illetas, before it was even dark, and got so out of hand that a waiter was reportedly knocked out.

Witnesses said the Brits turned violent after beachgoers saw one of them throwing an empty beer can into the sea and politely asked them to stop misbehaving.

It is understood that the group allegedly began throwing more beer cans and rubbish in the sea, and when confronted about it by staff at the restaurant, they started fighting.

One of the waiters, 42-year-old Nacho, told Mail Online he had never seen anything like it in 25 years.

He said there had been previous tensions when the group tried to go into the high-end restaurant wearing their soaking wet swimwear and were told to put on more clothes.

But when things came to a head he said he was punched several times by a ‘big man’ who told him ‘F*** you Spanish people’ during a mass brawl that was filmed by onlookers.

The eight were taken to Jutjat de Guàrdia court in Palma – but shortly afterwards swapped their criminal proceedings for the Es Rigeurs Hotel, a converted farmhouse villa described as a ‘peaceful refuge’ where the wedding took place.

Glossy photos from the day gave little indication of the drama leading up to it, with the couple pictured smiling with bridesmaids and groomsmen clutching bouquets of white flowers.

Mail Online reported the St Albans couple’s celebrations included a £350-a-night jazz saxophonist, with each guest given a personalised cocktail bottle engraved with their names, as well as players from West Ham United (as Connor is a big fan).

It follows a legal wedding where they posed for photos with their young son outside the registry office in April.

A spokeswoman for the Palma courthouse said: ‘The court granted bail for eight men who were detained under a bond for possible civil damage caused. No date was set for them to return. This is a criminal case.’

The men aged 24 to 30 were told they remain under formal investigation on suspicion of two crimes, one of wounding and another which in Spanish is called atentado contra la autoridad and covers actions such as violently resisting arrest right up to assaulting a police officer.

They have not yet been charged with any wrongdoing, as is normal in Spain where formal charges are only laid shortly before trial.

Calvia Council said in a statement: ‘A waiter was injured after being hit in the head and two police officers were also hurt and are awaiting a medical evaluation.’

They said the group were disturbing others at the beach and when asked to be more considerate, their response ‘was extremely violent’: ‘They attacked staff and confronted the police.

‘The first to intervene were two off-duty Civil Guards. In total a Civil Guard patrol and six local Calvia Town Hall-employed police were mobilised.’

The injured waiter was taken to hospital for treatment and tests but is not thought to have suffered any lasting damage.
