What’s In Your Handbag?
Against the evidence, stereotypes exist.
Having witnessed a handbag fight, I wrote about the incident that ended all such controversy in our household.
In response, Linda Acaster recalled an office where male colleagues would “sidle up with ‘You don’t happen to have…?’” and noted she’d helped them out with all sorts, from basic first-aid to pliers.
It reminded me of the time I let down a male colleague in this regard.
He burst into my office with a panicked, “Can I borrow your mirror!”
“I don’t have a mirror.”
Despairing cry: “Women always have mirrors in their bags.”
Sorry, friend. Not me. Would a pair of pliers help?
