About the MHS
Yale School of Medicine offers a two-year Master of Health Science (MHS) degree for applicants with YSM resident, fellow, or faculty appointments, and anyone with a doctorate degree from across the Yale community and outside partners. The MHS program has been restructured beginning with the class entering in 2024. Major requirements for the MHS degree include successful completion of a tailored curriculum (30+ credits), Research in Progress seminars, and mentored research resulting in an original thesis.
The program offers four tracks from which applicants may choose:
- Advanced Health Sciences Research ,
- Clinical Informatics & Data Science ,
- Clinical Investigation , and
- Medical Education .
Each track is designed to provide exposure to diverse research areas, more robust training, and formalized cohort building and peer-to-peer mentoring. This new structure for the two-year MHS applies to new students; current students will not have additional formal course requirements or changes to their tuition structure.
