Over the course of two days, the young people participated in discussion panels and workshops that addressed topics such as European integration, youth-led advocacy campaigns, inclusion and diversity, regional security, mental health, entrepreneurship, and more. At the end, the young people adopted a resolution with 14 priorities, which was presented at the closing of the event. The project “EU4Youth: Youth Engagement and Empowerment,” co-financed by #EU and #BMZ, contributed to the Moldova Youth Forum 2024, which was organized by the International Republican Institute, alongside other partners. #MYF24 #EU4Youth

📅 Between June 25 and 26, a significant workshop on Revamping commitment to anti-corruption in the health sector took place in Chisinau, bringing together a total of 40 participants targeting managers in key authorities, such as the National Agency for Public Health, the Ministry of Health, the Medicine and Medical Devices Agency, the Centre for Centralized Public Procurement in Health, and the National Health Insurance Company, etc. This workshop’s primary aim was to secure buy-in from managers at key health institutions to continue their efforts against corruption in the health sector. Facilitated by U4 Anti-Corruption Resource Centre, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, GIZ Moldova and Swiss Red Cross, the workshop provided a space to discuss the most pressing risks hindering the progress of previous anti-corruption commitments and to identify strategies for moving forward. The insights gained from the workshop will also inform an upcoming background study, which aims to offer evidence-based recommendations for all stakeholders involved. 🎯 The workshop had several specific learning objectives. Firstly, it aimed to build the capacity of managers at national health authorities to understand how corruption occurs in the health sector and how to identify and prioritize the management of corruption risks. Additionally, it provided a platform to discuss the most prevalent corruption risks in the Moldovan context and explore potential mitigation measures using the methodology of corruption risk management. Another key objective was to encourage the initiation of a multistakeholder dialogue with civil society on preventing corruption in the health sector. Ultimately, the workshop sought to generate buy-in and recommendations for the path forward. ✅ By enhancing the understanding of corruption risks among key health sector managers, the workshop paved the way for more effective identification and management of these risks. The discussions and strategies developed during the workshop have helped to create a more transparent and accountable health sector in Moldova. Furthermore, by fostering a multistakeholder dialogue that includes civil society, the workshop has promoted a collaborative approach to anti-corruption efforts, ensuring that diverse perspectives were considered. This comprehensive engagement is crucial for sustaining long-term anti-corruption measures and improving overall public trust in the health sector. #EU4Moldova #CooperareGermană #ACTAgainstCorruption

Support measures for young people who are not in employment, education, or training (NEET) to find good jobs in the Republic of Moldova were discussed today at the Conference "Facilitating the transition of young NEETs into employment”. This event was held as part of the ”Youth Employment Promotion in the Republic of Moldova" project, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ.    The Conference brought together officials from various ministries, members of civil society, and the business community, creating an open dialogue platform aimed at improving the integration of young people into the labor market.    During the event, an off-road vehicle and four sets of equipment, including laptops, printers, and mobile phones, were handed over to the National Employment Agency (ANOFM) as a support package for the modernization of mobile teams within the territorial subdivisions of ANOFM in Chișinău, Bălți, Orhei, and Ungheni.    The State Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, Felicia Bechtoldt, expressed her appreciation for the support of partners towards the reform agenda of the National Employment Agency. She highlighted the success of the mobile teams in integrating the unemployed into the labor market. Since the beginning of this year, 7,000 people have found jobs through ANOFM.  "Currently, in the Republic of Moldova, young people aged between 14 and 34 represent approximately a quarter of the total population, and only 4 out of 10 young people are employed in the labor market. The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection has intervened with a series of legislative changes to encourage the employment of the unemployed. In particular, we continue to invest effort in developing the skills of young people who are looking for a job, through professional training, career guidance services, etc. The inclusion of young people could significantly contribute to the economic development of the country," mentioned Felicia Bechtoldt.   "We reaffirm our commitment to support young people in exploring existing opportunities in the Republic of Moldova. Through this project, we will help ANOFM in achieving its objectives and create bridges between employers and job seekers," stated Claudia Hermes, Country Director of the GIZ Office in Moldova. Last year, based on a Memorandum of Understanding signed by ANOFM and GIZ Moldova, four off-road vehicles were purchased and directed to the territorial subdivisions for employment in Edineț, Soroca, Strășeni, and Leova. Celebrating the Universal Day of IA! The Universal Day of IA is celebrated every year in end June and honors the traditional blouse, IA, a symbol of our rich cultural heritage. Today, some of our colleagues at GIZ Moldova had a fantastic photo shoot, showcasing the beauty and intricacy of these traditional blouses. The IA transcends being merely a garment; it is a true work of art. Made from a single piece of linen, hemp, cotton, or silk, it displays beautiful embroidery embellished with beads, sequins, gold thread, or detailed stitching. Each pattern, whether geometric or inspired by nature, conveys a unique narrative through its vibrant hues and fine craftsmanship. Let’s celebrate cultural values together! 🌸
