FOOD TOURISM LANDSCAPE ASSESSMENT AND COMMUNITY MOBILIZATION IN NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY
We're working with Northumberland Tourism towards harnessing the growth potential that food tourism can bring to the area. Our Grow Food Tourism team is performing a food tourism landscape assessment. As part of the process, our team will be working to both engage industry and support the mobilization of key food tourism stakeholders around the collaborative development of food tourism in Northumberland County.  
2 //  RESEARCH PARTNERSHIP
CONGRESO ODELA, BARCELONA
With support from the Greenbelt Foundation, Caroline and Trevor travelled to Barcelona to present at the 5th International Congress on “Food heritage, tourism, and sustainability” hosted by the Alicía Foundation and the Observatorio de la Alimentación from June 18 -21. They shared the GFT team’s research around balancing food heritage, cultural identity, and tourism growth in Ontario’s Greenbelt. The congress brought together speakers from around the world to think critically about how food tourism development can be undertaken with long-term sustainability in mind.
3  //  EVENT COLLABORATION
EATING HERITAGE SYMPOSIUM IN DIEPPE, NEW BRUNSWICK
We’re working with Really Local Harvest to support the planning and execution of the Eating Heritage Symposium, New Brunswick’s first food tourism conference. The symposium which runs from November 4 – 5, 2019 is focused on inspiring and connecting local producers, tourism operators, and destination marketing organizations to tap into their food tourism potential. 4  //  TOOLS & RESOURCES
FIRST CERTIFICATE IN AGRITOURISM MANAGEMENT
The USA’s first Graduate Certificate in Agritourism Management was just announced by Colorado State University. This six-course online program seeks to contribute to the growing tourism sector of agritourism as “farmers increasingly use agritourism operations as a means to diversify and generate revenues for their agricultural business ventures.” Exciting news in growing food tourism! IN THE NEWS - Just this month we were featured in Forbes magazine. Trevor shared the team's insights on how agritourism can be used as a tool for socio-economic development in the Caribbean. Check out the full article here.
 
IN PERSON - On September 8th, 2019 Rebecca will be in Marrakesh, Morocco delivering two Masterclasses at Matter focused on creating food tourism experiences with a positive impact. Matter is a conference on high-end experiential travel with a focus on sustainability.
