Center of Gravity which will be held in Kelowna, BC on Aug 2nd and 3rd, 2008. It will be a festival style event that will showcase some of the world’s top freestyle mountain bikers and beach volleyball athletes. The agenda is packed with attractions for all ages including DJs, a Concert, Beer Gardens, Fashion Shows, the Flow Show, the Nintendo Entertainment Zone, and an Exhibitors’ Village. The two feature attractions are “Volleyfest”, which had its successful inauguration in 2007, and “Flirt’n with Dirt”. The event will provide great exposure to our top Canadian athletes and some local super stars in a fun interactive atmosphere that can be enjoyed by a wide range of ages.Flirt’n with Dirt will be a new attraction this year where top riders will compete on a dirt freestyle course. The athletes will include a list of local and national professional freestyle mountain bikers, such as, Kelowna’s own Steve Romaniuk. Steve has been featured in many bike magazines, TV shows, professional videos, and has ranked in the world’s top ten for the past 3 years. The competition will also include riders such as Tyler Klassen, James Doerfling, Ryan Schnepf, Casey Groves, Dillon Tremblay, Stirling Grassick, Garret Buehler, Kyle Norbraten, and others. Many of the riders have a resume full of movie credits and world top 10 finishes. The course will be built in the parking lot of City Park. The riders will start on a large scaffolding ramp and ride down to big dirt jumps and technical obstacles where they’ll impress the judges and spectators in a number of extreme competitions.
The event will also include The Flow Show which is the only traveling, modular mountain bike show on the planet! Since 1998 the Flow Show has being showing the World at large what extreme mountain biking is all about. The Show demonstrates most aspects of extreme mountain biking as they are today - big jumps, high elevated ladders, crazy contraptions, super narrow balancing lines and big step-down. The Flow Show can be summed up as an extremely extensive and entertaining traveling mountain bike circus. The riders of in the Flow Show are some of the best all round riders in the World.
