🔥 Distributed Ledger Technologies Interoperability Case Study🤓 Adhara, Fnality International HQLAᵡ Enterprise Ethereum Alliance 🔐Key Takeaways 🔑 The case study demonstrates a successful implementation of #DvP using two different DLT networks: Corda for securities and Ethereum for payments. 🔑Crosschain interoperability is made possible via an EEA-compliant crosschain function call protocol, including cryptographic proofs, to enable a secure DvP settlement flow across the two networks. 🔑This highlights the importance of open interoperability standards in realizing the full potential of DLT in the financial sector. 🔑DLT offers several advantages over traditional systems, including real-time settlement, improved efficiency, lower costs, reduced reconciliation costs, and minimized counterparty settlement risks. 🔑The digital representation of assets enabled by DLT opens up new markets and investment opportunities. 🔑Atomicity of this settlement process removes counterparty (or Herstatt) risk from settlement, also ensuring settlement finality. 🔑The actual securities do not move between HQLAX’s Corda-based network and the FnPS’s Ethereum-based network; instead, asset ownership is updated on HQLAX’s and FnPS’s networks, respectively. 🔑This demonstrates how DLT can enable efficient transfer of ownership at precise moments in time without the need for physical movement of assets. https://lnkd.in/drbVdS_V

🥇 Together with Fnality International we completed the first end-to-end test of a cross-chain repo trade settlement at a precise moment in time, demonstrating interoperability across platforms.   💷  The testing showcases a trade-to-settlement cycle of an intraday repo across the Fnality Payment System (FnPS) and the HQLAᵡ Digital Collateral Registry, which bridges the distributed ledger technologies (DLT) of Enterprise Ethereum and R3’s Corda platform.   ⏱️ The successful E2E testing paves the way for the precise control and easy mobility of liquidity and collateral, ensuring the clearing of wholesale payments in minutes with unprecedented visibility and control. We are excited to announce that BNY Mellon, Goldman Sachs and HSBC have successfully passed the €1 billion notional milestone in outstanding agency securities lending Delivery vs Delivery (DvD) transactions using the HQLAᵡ DLT platform.    DvD is the simultaneous or atomic exchange of securities versus securities. This eliminates intraday exposure and associated credit risk identified in most current collateral settlement practices.   The Loan ISINs were delivered bilaterally, whilst the collateral was delivered from BNYM Mellon’s Triparty platform, with support from Pirum's post-trade Triparty connectivity infrastructure.   #DLT #SecuritiesFinance #collateral #fintech
