At #MROBEER Day 2, FL Technics representative Julius Bogusevicius and other panelists discussed the rapid recovery of the aircraft engines industry post-COVID-19 and the surge in demand for efficient engine maintenance and repair. They highlighted the current challenges with the new generation engines and emphasized the reliability of the old ones as well as the engine shops’ capacity challenges. The panelists covered the topics such as the shift towards proactive maintenance, emphasizing performance restoration and modules swaps. #MROBEER Round 3: Tackling MRO Capacity Challenges ✈️ We’ve seen an insightful discussion where industry leaders covered the MRO capacity and workforce shortages, highlighting the need to look for workforce beyond Europe. Key concerns in the discussion included shrinking capacity for specific aircraft types and underdeveloped European workshops. Supply chain shortages, especially in spare parts, compound the issue. Airlines are pre-booking hangar slots and extending aircraft leases, which contribute to reducing redelivery projects. Staff training is crucial here, the panelists said, particularly for mechanics and certifying personnel. The labor shortage raises sustainability questions for MRO businesses, as attracting young talent remains challenging due to unappealing salaries and industry perceptions. Juozas Lapeika, Deputy CEO for Base Maintenance at FL Technics, stressed the need for flexibility and a modern work environment to appeal to the younger generation. The panel emphasized digitalization and paperless processes that would potentially improve efficiency, but long-term solutions for talent attraction and training are essential for the industry's growth. #MROBeer Round No2. ✈️ Panel discussion- Navigating Inflation and Rising Costs in Aviation Maintenance 📊 Industry leaders gathered to hear the panel discussion on strategies for coping with inflation and rising costs in aviation maintenance. Companies shared varied experiences: some avoided labour shortages after COVID-19 by retaining all personnel during it, while others faced challenges after laying off staff, leading to increased service prices and rehiring difficulties. Others struggled with unprecedented 15% inflation, losing wage competitiveness and facing new financial pressures. Views on AI and digitalization varied among the panelists. While technology was recognized for aiding efficiency, there was a consensus that skilled personnel remain crucial. We emphasize that AI can provide data but cannot replace human expertise in maintenance tasks.
