More than a quarter of applicants to Ireland’s first influencer degree course, which is due to start in September, have come from non-Irish citizens living as far away as Zimbabwe, Eswantini, Nigeria and Syria.
The bachelor’s degree in content creation and social media will be available at South East Technological University (Setu) in Carlow as a level 8 and a level 7.
The course has received a total of 251 applicants, with some 26 per cent submitted from 16 other countries, including 19 from the Czech Republic, 13 from Ukraine, 11 from Poland, four from Slovakia and three from Lithuania.
Applications have also been received from South Africa, Latvia, France, Spain and Vietnam.
