The family of platelet derived growth factors (PDGF) encompasses proangiogenic factors, which have been associated with progression of malignancies, including breast cancer. Recent studies indicated that expression of PDGFB is an important prognostic factor in certain breast cancer types, and that combination of PDGFR inhibitors with targeted therapy could significantly increase survival.
In this cross-journal collection, we welcome a wide range of articles on the role of PDGFB in mammary gland development, breast cancer initiation, progression, and metastasis, including primary research articles, reviews, and perspectives.
