Zusammenfassung
Der Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über die Bedeutung der Familie als generationalem Kontext für die (Re-)Produktion sozialer Ungleichheiten. Anhand exemplarischer Befunde wird gezeigt, dass die intergenerationale Transmission sozialer Ungleichheiten zwar je nach betrachteter Ungleichheitsdimension und gesellschaftlichem Kontext variiert, dabei aber gleichzeitig ein zeitlich und räumlich ‚universelles‘ Phänomen darzustellen scheint. Darüber hinaus wird deutlich, dass strukturelle Merkmale der Familie und ihrer Mitglieder (einschließlich des Geschlechts) und die tatsächliche Ausgestaltung von Familienbeziehungen hinsichtlich ihrer Bedeutung für die (Re-)Produktion sozialer Ungleichheiten miteinander interagieren.
