Abstract

a poorly known monospecific genus of early synapsids; E. intermedium is known only from fragmentary remains found in Nova Scotia and its relationship to other synapsids is unclear; nevertheless, it may be the oldest known synapsid, dated between 311 and 308 Ma; one specimen may have borne neural spines; see also Archaeothyris; Canada, Late Pennsylvanian.
