Abstract

Sexual violence facilitated by new technologies is a complex phenomenon that involves distinctive but sometimes overlapping behaviors, such as unwanted sexual attention, gender and/or sexuality-based abuse, and image-based sexual abuse, among others. This chapter aims to provide clarity to the study of this phenomenon by reviewing the different existing classifications of these behaviors and discussing their prevalence and the associated risk and protective factors.
