Abstract
Ensuring the privacy of users is a key component in various computer systems such as online social networks, where users often share content, possibly intended only for a certain audience but not others. The content users choose to share may affect others and may even conflict with their privacy preferences. More interestingly, individuals sharing behaviour can change over time, which indicates that privacy preferences of individuals affect others and spread throughout the network. We study the spreading of privacy preferences in online social networks with information diffusion models. Using multi-agent simulations, we show the dynamics of the spread and study the factors (e.g., trust) that influence the spread.
