Definition
“Quality of Life,” in urban planning terms, is a multi-dimensional concept used to evaluate people’s actual living conditions apart from their economic living standards. Quality of Life (hereafter used as QOL) should measure a person’s wellbeing, satisfaction, and happiness in all the elements of conditions that influence their lives such as housing, education, health, infrastructure, environment, governance, etc. (Ballas 2013; Diener and Suh 1997). The concept often overlaps with “Livability,” which has the same factors as that of QOL, but measures from a geographical aspect. QOL of women is the degree to which women are healthy, comfortable, and able to participate in life events. Studies on women’s QOL have similar influencing elements of “Gender Equality”. It is the equal opportunities, rights, and responsibilities for all genders.
