Abstract
Cervical cancer which is identified as the second most common type of cancer in women worldwide, is responsible for more than 275,100 mortalities each year and associated with the long-term infection of high-risk human papillomavirus, including HPV18. HPV18 DNA contains two vital oncogenes, E6 and E7, which have crucial roles in malignant transformation in cervical cancer. Previous studies have revealed that LncRNAs (long non-coding RNAs), which are non-coding transcripts that are more than 200nt in length, are important regulators in various biological processes and abnormalities in LncRNA expression are correlated with progression of cervical cancer. In this article, we examined 9 cancer-related LncRNAs and 2 newly identified LncRNAs in cancer or non-cancer cell lines. Further, we enforced the expression of HPV18 E6 and E7 in HeLa cervical cancer cells or introduced HPV18 E6 and E7 encoding plasmids into HaCaT non-cancer cells to explore the relationship between HPV18 E6, E7 and the expression of cancer-related LncRNAs. The results showed that the expression level of these LncRNAs varied in different cell lines, and the HPV18 E6 and E7 regulated the expression levels of some cancer related LncRNAs, in particular MALAT1 and TMOPO2.
