Abstract

This chapter is intended to provide an overview of sexual dysfunction, treatment of sexual dysfunction, and the importance of attending to culture variables when treating sexual dysfunction. Culture and sexuality are heavily intertwined, and cultural background has been shown to impact treatment seeking and treatment completion; thus it is crucial that those treating sexual dysfunction attend to clients cultural values and incorporate those values into treatment when possible. Additionally, the chapter delineates various cultural variables that clinicians should consider and recommendations for treatment modification.
