  It's not the most interesting and fascinating movie in the world, but it's a solid drama with a great performances from Scoot McNairy and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
  Probably Arnold's second best performance to date. Number 1, of course, is Mr. Freeze in "Batman & Robin".

  When two planes collide on air traffic controller Jake Bonanos' (Scoot McNairy) watch, the destruction leaves him a broken shell of a man. On board were the wife and pregnant daughter of construction worker Roman Melnyk (Arnold Schwarzenegger), whose life is also shattered by the tragedy. The film follows the parallel tracks of both mens lives as they struggle with the emotional devastation of the event.

  Led by a career-best performance from Arnold Schwarzenegger, Elliot Lester's Aftermath is a gripping, thought-provoking, well-acted drama about tragedy and vengeance where you can easily sympathize with both the target and pursuer of retribution.

  Aftermath is a 2017 thriller directed by Elliott Lester telling the story of a grieving father and husband who is struggling in the aftermath of his families death when their plane collided mid-air with another killing 271 people. The film stars Arnold Schwarzenegger in the lead role and Scoot McNairy as the air traffic controller responsible the night of the crash.

  The film presents itself as having a clear beginning and end but no idea of how to bridge the two well enough to warrant the eventual conclusion.   Arnold Schwartzenegger doing hard hitting drama. It just doesn't sound right does it...but it is right. Very very right. Inspired by a real plane crash in 2002 the story follows the lives of two men, one a grieving husband and father after the crash and the other the air traffic controller who was on duty on the night of the crash. We watch as these two lives spiral out of control until they eventually collide with one another. It's a short film coming in at 90 minutes but I actually found myself sat on the edge of my seat leaning towards the TV as the last 45 minutes unfolded.   Based on actual events following a mid-air collision over Germany in 2002, Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as a distraught man unable to forgive the loss of his family over an air traffic controller's mistake.

  Dry drama hung on the curiosity of another rare dramatic turn by its star. Dividing time between the widower and grief-racked controller, the tension might've been stronger if the target of rage was kept more of a stranger to the viewer. This also leaves Schwarzenegger with juicy emotional scenes but less chance at rounding his character with subtlety. Same goes for the rest of the archetypal cast.

  Honestly abysmal. I mean Breaking Bad did this exact plot in like a quarter of the run time and it felt way more effective.

  It really comes down to the extreme miscasts. This is much too emotional a film for an actor like Schwarzenegger. With his stone faced emotion and Scoot McNairy’s weird facial expressions and equally as lackluster performance this is a complete dud.

  The direction this movie chooses to go in the end (a revenge plot was the last thing this movie needed) and a whole first three-quarters that does absolutely nothing to make you care for any character makes this one of the worst dramas of the last decade.

  Roman (Arnold Schwarzenegger) verliert seine Frau und die schwangere Tochter bei einem Flugzeugunglück. Die Verantwortung hierfür trägt der Fluglotse Jacob (Scoot McNairy). Während Ersterer die Trauer um den Tod der geliebten Menschen verarbeiten muss, fällt Zweiterer in ein psychisches Loch. Nach einem Jahr sucht der Witwer den Mann auf.
  Der deutsche Titel "Vendetta - Alles, was ihm blieb, war Rache" ist sehr reißerisch und lässt einen anderen Film erwarten. Schnell wird aber klar, dass hier nicht ein blutiger Revengeplot erzählt wird, sondern Themen wie Trauer- und Schuldverarbeitung im Vordergrund stehen.
  Schwarzenegger spielt den Witwer okay und hat mit den Szenen, in denen er im Flughafen vom Tod von Frau und Tochter…
