“A father is neither an anchor to hold us back, nor a sail to take us there, but a guiding light whose love shows us the way.” There are committed men all across the Authority who we are proud to call our coworkers, friends, and employees, but at home, they hold the highest honor, Father. To our SLASPA dads, your perseverance and commitment at work are evidence of your dedication to being a model Dad. Happy Father’s Day to all the amazing dads.

SLASPA boast the success of its Contactors Symposium The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) is boasting the success of its first-ever Contractor's Symposium held on May 21, 2024 at the Finance Administrative Centre. Held under the theme, 'Building relationships, engaging for sustainability,' the symposium was developed primarily to create a platform for learning, sharing experiences, and fostering sustainable partnerships. It was a unique opportunity for contractors to gain insights, broaden their knowledge, and network with industry peers. The symposium also aimed to sensitize and reacquaint participants with the diverse issues and processes associated with the Tender Process. During her opening address, Chief Operating Officer (COO) at SLASPA, Grace Parkinson, expressed deep appreciation to SLASPA's Engineering Team, contractors, affiliates, collaborating partners and employees for their significant contribution to the event's success. She emphasized, "The primary goal of this symposium was to improve stakeholders' understanding of the tender process and offer an opportunity for contractors to register their business in SLASPA's database. Although having knowledge of this tender process and being a registered contractor with SLASPA are essential for conducting business, it is equally important to comprehend and value the ongoing evolution of this industry." She further stated that, "The construction industry is at a pivotal point with rapid advancements in technology, increasing environmental regulations and shifting market dynamics. We are facing a period of changes head on." "The Contractors Symposium is a timely and strategic response from SLASPA, where contractors would get an opportunity to interact with the Authority and our departments. We have placed emphasis on health and safety, security, and procurement as one of the fundamental processes that we try to uphold, as well as build relationships with other contractors." Added Chief Engineer at SLASPA, Alva Francis, as he reiterated the event's significance. The Contractor's Symposium featured enlightening presentations from SLASPA's team of experts and industry pioneers who discussed a wide range of topics, including the Review of Processes and Preparation of responses for ITB/RFQ/RFP, Types of Procurement, Compliance Documentation, Security Procedures, Health and Safety Procedures, and Climate Change and Resilience in the Construction Industry. According to Mr. Francis, the topics were carefully chosen to provide contractors with valuable insights and knowledge.
