Application Process

The LARB Publishing Workshop accepts fellows who expect to complete their undergraduate degree by December 2024, current graduate students, and professionals of all ages who are interested in transitioning to a career in publishing or starting their own press, magazine, or literary organization.

Please note that the application form will not allow you to save your information and return to it at a later time. All materials should be submitted in .doc or .pdf form. We recommend that you prepare the following materials before starting the application.

Required Materials

Personal Statement Please explain how the workshop fits into your overall publishing career goals. (~500 words)

Resume and Transcripts You will need to upload a PDF of your resume or CV and, if within 5 years of graduation, a PDF of your transcripts from the undergraduate and graduate institutions you have attended. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable.

Non-refundable Application Fee A $40 fee is required for all applicants.

Optional Materials

Work Samples If you have experience relevant to the workshop in editing, publishing, layout, design or marketing, please include a portfolio of your work. 25 page maximum, .pdf form.

Scholarship Materials

Statement of Financial Need If you are applying for a scholarship, please outline your current financial situation and need for participating in this program. 250 word maximimum.

FAFSA/1040 Because our scholarship funding is based entirely on demonstrated need, scholarship applicants must upload either a recent FAFSA or 1040 tax form. You can fill out a FAFSA for free at https://studentaid.gov/. Please download the FAFSA Student Aid Report. Instructions can be found at https://studentaid.gov/apply-for-aid/fafsa/review-and-correct/sar-student-aid-report.

For international applicants, please upload any tax documents or statements of your monthly income that accurately reflect your income for the previously completed fiscal year.
