Art Zone: Hammer Museum
A new exhibition, Only the Young: Experimental Art in Korea, 1960s–1970s, is the first North American exhibition to explore the groundbreaking work of a generation of artists who emerged in the decades following the Korean War (1950–53).The exhibition offers insight into a moment in which artists in Korea began to take a stance against what they saw as a limiting approach within the local art world and instead embraced innovative and often provocative practices. The Hammer Museum is an L.A. County Department of Arts and Culture grantee.
Art Zone: Kidspace Children’s Museum
Kidspace Children’s Museum is a nonprofit educational and cultural institution committed to serving the emotional and intellectual needs of children with more than 40 hands-on exhibits, splashable water features, and a variety of creative play spaces to explore. The museum is funded in part by a grant from the L.A. County Department of Arts and Culture.
Art Zone: Museum of Contemporary Art
Established in 1979, MOCA is the only artist-founded museum in Los Angeles dedicated to collecting and exhibiting contemporary art created after 1940 across all media. Take a deeper dive into the museum’s ground-breaking, historically-significant exhibitions and the artists pushing boundaries in L.A.’s ever-evolving arts scene. MOCA, along with other leading arts organizations, is a recipient of grant funding from the L.A. County Department of Arts and Culture.
Art Zone: Season of Solidarity
A series of murals that aim to bridge cultural divides and foster unity and respect for diversity are now part of the County landscape. The project is a signature element of the “LA vs. Hate” campaign led by the Los Angeles County Commission on Human Relations.
