Family therapy often ends with a decision to break up or take a break 😥 Family psychologist and sexologist Silvia Cintrano explains this by saying that some couples come to therapy with so many unresolved conflicts and resentments that it becomes almost impossible to deal with them. Some couples endure this tension for a long time, and going to a counsellor becomes a way to put an end to the relationship with the help of another person. Does this mean that couples therapy is ineffective for maintaining a relationship? Of course not, the main idea that can be caught here is that people seek help too late. More than 70% of couples still manage to solve the problems with which they turned to a consultant in 10-12 sessions. These are the results of people who contacted a specialist on time. So when should you take the conflict out of the hut and bring it to a specialist for consideration? 👉 Even if everything is fine in a couple, though one of the partners has worries and fears because of the experience of abusive relationships or self-doubt, it is useful to come to the appointment. This is not prevention, as one might think, but an opportunity for this person to feel safe. 👉Constant quarrels are an unconditional signal that the couple needs help. A quarrel differs from a conflict (which is preferable for a relationship) in that one person tries to convey how painful the situation they are in is for them, trying to cause even more pain for another. The specialist teaches the partners to talk to each other and come to a decision. 👉Boredom in a relationship is also a reason to consult a specialist. If this problem is not solved, the partners may begin to move away from each other. In the conflict stage, it is common for one of the partners to bring the other to a consultation to show that "someone is wrong." However, this is still a good solution to the problem because a duty-neutral specialist will finally be able to make partners hear each other. So, there are no "too early" calls to a psychologist or a consultant on sexual relations, whereas "belated" ones are quite common. #therapy #counseling #familytherapy #relationships #research #commentary

Who is more likely to leave the company after the demand to return to the office? The Gartner consulting company found the answer to this question: workers with the highest productivity, women and millennials value flexibility too much to easily give in to management. This does not mean that every good employee will leave the company, but their desire to stay is 16% lower than the average. Why exactly do these groups need flexibility so much (and don't need an office at all)? The most productive workers, as a rule, are offended by the distrust of their superiors. For them, returning to the office means reducing their independence in decision—making and allocating their time to tasks. For women, remoteness is an opportunity to combine work and home and, it turns out, a considerable way to save money. When a woman has to go to work, she spends more money on child care. In addition, the interviewed employees noted that they are more likely to face bias and microaggression in the office. A similar situation is observed among millennials. This is the generation that is most involved in child care right now, and flexibility, as well as money saved on babysitters, will not hurt them. This means that companies themselves need to be more flexible concerning the needs of employees. Yes, the office format is preferable today, a hybrid is a compromise that will suit both the employee and the employer, but to retain valuable personnel, you can simply discuss the reasons why a person is not satisfied with such options and negotiate convenient terms. #remotework #hybrid #generations #flexiblebenefits #research #employeebenefits

Therapy - trend  or necessity? 😥 In recent years there were many popular shows about therapists, young people (who become their clients more often) mention going through therapy in their dating sites bios, and phrase “as my therapist says” pops up more and more often. We often advise you to seek solution for your problems, and not just hope to handle everything yourself. So does it mean that therapy is talked about because it’s trendy right now? Two years ago, VTsIOM published results according to which almost a quarter of Russians need psychological help. However, the percentages vary greatly depending on the age of the respondents. However, debate about the effectiveness of psychotherapy is still ongoing (in fact, it has been going on for more than half a century). The main argument of opponents of therapy, of course, is the fact that some symptoms never go away throughout life, but merely weaken. For example, patients with severe PTSD still encounter triggering situations that throw them off balance. But their difference from people who have not undergone therapy is that they have practices that help them deal with anxiety in the moment. While the effectiveness of psychotherapy continues to be studied, it is clear that there are a number of factors that influence how beneficial sessions will be for a client. According to the Lambert Pie concept, these include: 👉 trusting relationship between doctor and patient; 👉expectations and placebo effect (we always mention it: if a client doesn’t believe in the treatment methods, there won’t be a miracle); 👉techniques that specialists use (but they usually affect only 15%). ❗ The main factor in treatment is the behavior of the patient himself (40% effectiveness). If he is ready to work on himself (keeping notes, applying psychological practices in everyday life), in any case he will not remain at the starting point. Yes, in the end you will have to solve problems on your own, because a psychologist is an assistant who will not reformat your thinking of his own free will. But does everyone need this? Maybe it’s time to add a “has undergone therapy” field on all social networks? You shouldn’t go to the same doctor for everyone, just like in conventional medicine, you need to focus on your symptoms. The main sign that a person needs the help of a psychologist is persistent conditions. For example, it’s normal to feel anxious, it’s normal to get angry and cry, but if this condition doesn’t go away for weeks, it’s time to see a specialist.

What should team building events look like? Meet Gennady the dinosaur - happiness team mascot at Vkusvill🦖 Don’t know what a happiness team is? We’ve only recently found out about it as well! It’s a special team that is concerned with well-being of technical support workers. No wonder they need support after countless sessions of helping the clients. This team came up with the most original name for an event - whineeting. Literally a meeting where workers can whine about challenges they’re facing, receive appropriate support, and get back into the fray. This leads to certain conclusions: team building events can be various, and they don’t have to be positive. All the same whineetings allow workers to bond together by performing roles of friends by listening to each others’ problems. We found some more examples of atypical events: 🙏 speed dates in office (you’re not actually finding a date, you’re bonding with your colleagues and partners and expanding your social links); 💰 fundraising (it’s proven that charity raises employee social wellbeing, and this event allows your workers to team up in looking for interesting fundraising ideas: print calendars, conduct an auction etc.); 🐶 🐱 pet day (yes, anyone can bring their trained cat/dog to work, but lizards, spiders, and rats may still be banned. It’s best to do these days right before holidays when all the important tasks are already done, as this day will be less productive than others). A team building idea can come from any interesting idea. Perhaps your best option is letting your workers come up with something or just asking them what it is they want. #teambuilding #events #dating #company #teamcollaboration #advice #analysis

What to do to get noticed 🎹 This story happened pretty recently. While waiting for an order, a courier from Wolt, a Finnish delivery company, played the piano in the restaurant hall (just watch the video - it’s beautiful!). What happened next? A young man named Hasan Alzarov was invited to play in this restaurant, which, by the way, is located in the historical center of Riga.. Where are we leading with this? Even talented people sometimes end up on positions that have nothing to do with their abilities. And it’s the right moment and proper delivery that can save them from the wrong role. In the corporate world and, specifically, office one, making your achievements visible can be a hurdle. How to present yourself properly. Let’s learn from the young ex-courier. 📍 Look for right time and place Do you have time for private meetings with your boss? Mention your achievements and tasks you’ve accomplished within the last week/month. Of course it’s assumed you work at work, but an employer can’t possibly track every employee. Achievements often get lost within routine tasks. 📍Choose the right presentation method You don’t have to look for a downtown restaurant and knock everyone off their feet. But pay attention to how you talk about your tasks. “Usual stuff, did 10 meetings, talked to the clients, completed the plan” or “encountered unusual requests from clients, performed problem solving while executing my duties…” etc. Don’t pull achievements out of thin air, but if you fix certain complications, be sure to tell about it. 📍Don’t forget about your strength If you’re still looking for a job, don’t disregard your “hidden achievements”: your leadership skills; 👉 experience in public activity; 👉cases that may have not affected the company's profits but affected it in other ways. Share the difficulties and crises you had to face and more importantly - how you dealt with them. If you don’t display yourself, nobody will notice you. This remains true in the age of media, information overload and self-presentation. Remember to always maintain balance between false modesty and bragging.

🙅♀️ A not-to-do list during counseling sessions You may have noticed how distance learning at schools passed in the covid years: a gadget with a conference call on rests on the pillow next to the sleeping "student." The online format is highly relaxing, which is why not all people take it as seriously as they do when it comes to live meetings. Since all our consultations are held in video format, curious things happen sometimes. It is important to remember that a session with a psychologist/lawyer/health expert, etc., whatever its format is, will be a benefit to a customer if he/she is not distracted by unrelated issues and finds time and space to talk face to face. 😁 In the cards, we've collected some mischievous tips (please don't take them seriously) on what to do if you're about to have an online session with a specialist. #counseling #wellbeing #eap #beaware #howto #therapy #online #tips #havefun

😷 Why people are more likely to seek help from psychologists in winter? The end of fall and beginning of winter is not only a time for our company to take stock, but also a season of growth in demand, especially for psychologists. Why does this happen? 📍 During the cold season, people lack light and vitamins, their motivation drops and work becomes more difficult. The happiness hormone serotonin needs sunlight to be produced, so we lack positive emotions in winter. Our psychological condition may go down dramatically at this time, and we will need help. 📍Seasonal affective disorder is more common in the northern countries. People show signs of depression: apathy, low spirits, constant fatigue, but the exacerbation falls on certain seasons. Yes, most often it’s winter. 📍Chronic diseases also worsen in winter. This can significantly impair a person’s productivity, not to mention his/her quality of life. To grin and bear waiting for spring to come is not the best solution. The right specialist will be able to ease the symptoms. The main thing to remember is that a slightly worsened condition in winter, while common, is not the norm, and can be improved. #sad #eap #wellbeing #therapy #empathy #diseases #seasonal #counseling

Part 2. HR's Personal Brand In the previous post, we decided that HR needs a personal brand. Wouldn't you agree? But how can this brand be promoted? Blogging on allowed and banned networks? Selling courses? There are several steps that any professional should go through to create a personal brand. 📍 Step 1: Identify and explore the target audience You need to understand what you can talk about, whose problems your knowledge will solve, what your competitors usually talk about. You don't need to repeat after your rivals, on the contrary, you should immediately start building up from them: HR N is running a blog for young candidates and teaching them how to pass interviews, so, HR V can start telling you how to change your profession after 40 years of working in the same company.  Different regions have their own requests, so it is also worth identifying the "pains" of job seekers and employees of companies in your city/country. For example, Kazakhstan is now characterized by an influx of specialists in technical fields from abroad, migration attractiveness of megacities, and uneven distribution of salaries in different sectors of the economy. 📍Step 2: Build a strategy, or answer the question "how?" At this stage, it's time to understand how the specialist is going to position him- /herself. After that, it will be easier to choose the style and methods of communication. For example, each online platform now has its own specifics: in Telegram, CIS residents are more likely to read news and expert content, VKontakte connects different age and national categories and presents a variety of formats, etc. 📍Step 3: Take action It's time to test hypotheses and adjust your target audience's perception of your brand. Some tips may not work, so it's worth monitoring the feedback in real time. #personalbranding #hr #eap #hrconsulting #pr #targetaudience #howto #expertguidance

Why does HR need a personal brand Personal brand for a blogger or an entrepreneur is understandable, but HR?   What should point HR towards managing its personal brand: 1️⃣ A brand gives trust. Just as a customer trusts their health to a well-known coffee shop, clients and candidates rely on a trusted HR person without even knowing the details of their journey. 2️⃣ There are not so many HR influencers in the CIS countries yet. This is a blue ocean for specialists, so getting media exposure is still possible. For HR, the local context is important, so it is enough to ensure that other specialists in the region hear about it. HR has both an internal and external reputation. “Their people” (employees and employer) know they best, but even here a personal brand will not be superfluous: a cool specialist, about whom the entire professional community knows, will be treated better than someone who is “unrecognized.” A strong internal reputation will help you achieve your goals within the company: achieve a promotion, take on new projects, change your work format to a more flexible one. 👆 But fame must also penetrate beyond the boundaries of the company - this is the image of how HR positions itself in the market (an expert and connoisseur or an experienced specialist with a million cases, etc.). The external reputation of the HR manager will play into the hands of his company. For example, its name will increasingly be heard at conferences and awards. A strong personal brand is always an advantage for a professional. As practice shows, employers from Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and other countries of the post-Soviet region are increasingly looking at a candidate’s social networks, and not just his resume, they want to see the presence of successful cases and the ability to present them. #hr #branding #personalbrand #coaching #developingpeople #externalreputation #influencers
