Motorcyclist dead after hitting van in West El Paso

Update (July 10, 2024): El Paso Police just identified the motorcyclist who died as 22-year-old Peter Jaden Gonzalez.

Special Traffic investigators say the driver of the van was driving south on Redd Road, approaching the crossing with Dakota Ridge. He got into the left turn lane to get onto Dakota Ridge when Gonzalez hit the van. Gonzalez was wearing a helmet. He died at the scene.

"Failure to yield on behalf of Gutierrez is a contributing factor, and speed may be a contributing factor on the part of Gonzalez," police officials explained Wednesday.
