I recently traveled to the U.S. and into the beating heart of #AI innovation, meeting with visionary leaders Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, and Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft. We discussed our shared view for an AI ecosystem already poised to improve everyday life around the world. Collaboration is vital for the interconnected industries supporting this rapid innovation. At this moment of exponential growth, SK is deepening its AI leadership across #semiconductors, data center solutions, large language models, and more. Thank you to CEO Altman and CEO Nadella. This is a historic moment for AI as we work together to build the industries and technologies of the future.

On Monday, June 24th, SK On signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ExxonMobil for a lithium offtake agreement as part of its efforts to strengthen the #battery supply chain in the U.S. Through the collaboration, SK On will be able to secure up to 100,000 metric tons of lithium from ExxonMobil Low Carbon Solutions project in #Arkansas. SK On plans to use the supplied lithium for its battery manufacturing across the region. The company currently operates two electric vehicle battery plants in Commerce, Georgia, and is building four plants in #Tennessee, #Georgia, and #Kentucky through joint ventures with global #automakers. Park Jong-jin, Executive Vice President of Strategic Procurement at SK On, stated: “SK On has been working with global partners to secure key battery raw materials in a move to support our growing U.S. manufacturing base and lead #electrification. With Exxon Mobil, we will continue strengthening battery supply chain in the U.S.” Read more https://lnkd.in/ghnKbzE9 보도자료 https://lnkd.in/gujFPnRU #EVbattery

Since 1996, #Georgia has been a welcome home for decades of SK's U.S. investments. SKC's polyester film factory in Covington set the stage, the first Korean-owned company to operate a #manufacturing facility in Georgia. That long-term relationship has had a transformative impact on the community. SK businesses including Absolics Inc. and SK battery America have brought thousands of jobs to the local community – while supporting cutting-edge technologies from high-end computer chips to #EVbatteries. Pat Wilson, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, said: “We are now the beneficiary of multiple decades of commitment to growing our relationships and supporting the companies that we have recruited. It is a long-term strategy.” Read the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s story including SK's 30-year relationship with the State of Georgia. We're proud to be part of such a welcoming and innovative community. https://lnkd.in/g7NYFaEz

A robust #semiconductor supply chain is vital to building a strong U.S. and global economy. Every part of the supply chain plays a role in advancing the overall technology to enable new applications, like #AI. SK Group was pleased to see Absolics Inc., an SKC subsidiary, recognized last week for the role its #Georgia facility could play in building this U.S. semiconductor industry. The U.S. Department of Commerce and Absolics announced the signing of a non-binding preliminary memorandum of terms to provide up to $75 million in direct funding for Absolics’ Georgia facility under the CHIPS and Science Act. The Absolics site in Covington, Ga., is working to manufacture a breakthrough glass substrate – a thin piece of material on which processors, memory and logic chips can be embedded. The new material could enable more chips to be packaged together in less space, creating the brains of next-generation, high-performance computers. The project is another example of SK Group investments in critical U.S. industries – from electric vehicles and semiconductors to life-changing medicines. We look forward to seeing this and other projects progress. #USJobs https://lnkd.in/eum2a-KW
