A man from Texas has captured footage purportedly showing a UFO in the skies above the Interstate 35 highway, 20 miles South of Waco.

Knewz.com has learned that the video was posted on a Facebook group dedicated to UFO sightings and theories.

In the caption, the man requested group members to help him identify the object, seen in the footage as a colorful blob rapidly changing shape.

The man, Jon B Tipton, posted the 12-second video on the Texas UFO Network Facebook page, where he claimed that there were a total of “three vehicles/crafts.”

“One was apparently only visible to the unaided eye and two red ones cross the frame from right to left, slow the video. The other is visible only to the naked eye and not captured in the video despite appearing to be co-located with this vessel,” Tipton claimed.

Several commenters tried to explain what the “UFO” could actually be, with one of them writing:

“Honestly, you’re seeing the camera on your phone focus on what is most visible because it’s high up at altitude and the only thing it can pick up is the orange flare from SpaceX rocket booster. This is why it looks blurry.”

“The reason it disappears is because the camera can no longer keep it in focus and the flame from the booster stops when it hits the upper atmosphere. Too far away to capture it with a phone camera,” the commenter added.

There were others who tried to attribute this purported “sighting” to Elon Musk‘s space venture, saying, “Space X is only a few miles from this area.”

Some of them tried to indicate that the object seen in the video had something to do with “secretive” United States military tech.

One of them wrote in the comments, “Did it just straight disappear? Anybody else think it’s probably just our government with crazy tech they aren’t telling the public about?”

On the other hand, some claimed that the object seen in the footage was nothing but simply light reflected off the windshield of the car.

However, many others were more inclined to believe that this was a mysterious phenomenon, and not “reflected light” or something related to SpaceX.

One of them commented, “I am curious because I too live in this area, closer to waco though. I agree it’s nothing to do with SpaceX McGregor.

“For those that are not familiar with what they do out there, they only do ground tests. Nothing is launched into the air.”

Another user claimed that the Texan city of Waco is “a very active ufo area,” adding that “not everything is reflected light.”

Some of the commenters claimed that this was an unidentified aerial phenomenon (UAP), and even included their reasoning behind the conclusion.

One of them wrote, “I say a UAP. Not Starlink and the way it changes form and then disappears leads me to that conclusion. [Thank you] for sharing.”

Some commenters claimed that they had seen similar objects in the skies above the region, with one of them claiming that the footage Tipton posted is “why I joined this group. I’ve been seeing things like this for the last year. I’ve seen them during the day and night.”

“I’ve seen something similar in Valley mills off [Highway] 6 looking west,” wrote another.

Seeing the comment on his post, Tipton himself wrote a response debunking some of the theories posited by the commenters and proposing some of his own.

“I am sure many of you have looked for any Space X activity/launch/test via their very public website. Nada, nothing, zilch scheduled for today…at least publicly. And McGregor is ground testing only,” he wrote.

“It’s not Elon; especially since I believe there have been multiple sightings of the same phenom across the country and dating back to the 50’s/60’s, so while this may not be “new” tech….it certainly may appear to be is to the common, uninitiated, layperson.”

“Project Blue Beam related??? Inter-dimensional shifts? String Theory? The red/pinkish “go fasts” seem to utilize a “warp bubble” or distortion of the air/atmosphere directly in front of them,” Tipton theorized in his comment.

UFO or not, it seems one of the commenters made the most accurate assumption about the video when they wrote, “Could go viral.”

A new video, depicting a missile catching up to a Russian fighter jet and turning it into a smoldering wreck, has emerged. 

Knewz.com has learned that Ukraine’s Khortytsia ground forces group has since claimed responsibility for the attack. 

The video, distributed among various social media platforms, depicts two Russian Su-25 aircraft skimming across an open field.

As the second one passes, a missile with a trail of white smoke follows suit from the direction of the camera.

All three airborne objects are nearly out of sight when the projectile makes contact with its quarry.

Later, an aerial view of the attack depicted the Su-25 jet corkscrewing toward the ground as flame poured from it. When it hit the ground, an explosion ensued, and thick phosphorescent smoke rose from the wreck.

A parachute was also seen in the vicinity of the plummeting jet, but there has been no information as to whether the Russian pilot survived.

The official Telegram account of the Khortytsia Group, Khortytskyi Wind, captioned the video saying: 

“Today, in the Pokrovsky direction, the Ukrainian military shot down a Russian Su-25 combat aircraft, which, together with another Su-25, was trying to fire at the positions of units of the Defense Forces.”

The update noted that this strike was not the first for July:

“It should be emphasized that anti-aircraft fighters from a separate mechanized brigade named after Colonel-General Mark Bezruchka destroyed the second Su-25 attack aircraft this month.”

“Thanks to the accuracy and professionalism of our anti-aircraft fighters, today […] Russian aviation has decreased by one more combat aircraft – the Su-25 attack aircraft.”

Russia’s aircraft losses were not only incurred on Ukrainian soil. On June 10, Knewz.com reported that the defending country was able to sneak a drone 400 miles behind enemy lines.

Its target was the Akhtubinsk airfield in the autocracy’s Astrakhan region. This facility was the home to Russia’s rare avante-garde Su-57 multipurpose jet.

Satellite images showed the before and after images of the well-guarded aircraft with a later depiction capturing a black blast mark on the apron next to it.

A Russian Military blowhard weighed on the images acknowledging the attack, saying:

“Yes, yesterday the airbase in Akhtubinsk was attacked by drones. Three of them reached the airbase.”

“The Su-57 was damaged by shrapnel; it is now being determined whether it can be restored or not.”

The aircraft is said to be one of only five in existence with Russia limiting its operations to home turf for fear of them being downed on Ukrainian turf and their technology falling into Western hands.

The British defense ministry confirmed the latter when it said: “Russia is highly likely prioritizing avoiding the reputational damage, reduced export prospects, and the compromise of sensitive technology which would come from any loss of FELON over Ukraine.”

According to Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, these strikes added to a total of 364 Russian fixed-wing military planes destroyed since the beginning of Vladimir Putin’s so-called Special Military Operation (SVO) in Ukraine.

The United Nations has leaked a confidential report indicating that the Israeli military operation in war-torn Gaza, killed 195 aid workers and another 172 of their family members.

Knewz.com has learned that this information comes just ahead of the Jewish state’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu‘s congressional address.

The report, compiled by the UN’s Crisis Coordination Centre, indicated that while individuals who died at the hands of the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) were serving the organization’s World Food Program (WFO), World Health Organization (WHO), or UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), most of them worked for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

The findings – which were documented before the International Criminal Court ruled that the IDF’s presence in Gaza and the West Bank was illegal – were circulated among the UN’s employees as early as July 1.

In the meantime, Israel is reportedly continuing its attacks on UN staffers. A spokesperson for the organization reported one such incident on July 21. 

A five-car convoy was headed to Gaza City when it came under Israeli fire. According to a spokeswoman, one of the vehicles (clearly marked) was shot five times forcing it to leave the convoy.

This attack was despite what the UN referred to as “close coordination” with the IDF during the convoy’s journey.

While none of the staff were injured every one of them was rattled by the assault.

The attack has since come under scrutiny by the United States State Department with its spokesperson Matt Miller claiming that Israel has been asked for an explanation for the attack.

He went on to acknowledge the “enormous sacrifice and enormous risk humanitarian workers put themselves under,” but telegraphed that Israel has not been forthcoming.

In March 2024, the UN Special Rapporteur cited “reasonable grounds to believe the threshold indicating Israel’s commission of genocide [in Gaza] is met.”

As a testimony to the latter, additional reports indicated that Israel killed 89 and injured at least 250 people during an attack on the enclave’s Khan Younis on July 23.

Before the assault, the IDF instructed 400,000 civilians to leave their homes and refugee camps in the area.

According to some sources, at least 83% of Gaza is now off-limits for local civilians. 

Netanyahu is slated to address American lawmakers on Wednesday, July 24.

During his first visit to the US since the October 7 Hamas attack, he will try to hedge his bets on the November election by putting in face time with Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, per Drop Site news. 

He will also meet with the outgoing President Joe Biden.

Tellingly, Harris who is ahead of Trump (44% to 42%) per a Reuters poll, has declined the invitation to sit behind the visiting prime minister while some left-leaning politicians like Patty Murray and Chris Hollen will be boycotting the address altogether.

An Alabama woman pleaded guilty on Tuesday to stealing around $300,000 from the Catholic church where she worked to pay for gifts for TikTok content creators and personal expenses, officials said.

Kristen Marie Battocletti, 35, pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud in connection with the scheme to embezzle approximately $300,000 from her employer, St. Francis of Assisi University Parish.

According to the charges filed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Alabama, Battocletti was employed as an administrative assistant at St. Francis, part of the Catholic Diocese of Birmingham, when she engaged in the scheme from April to October 2023.

Battocletti stole approximately $300,000, and used more than $220,000 to purchase TikTok Coins, which are used to send digital gifts to content creators on the social media app. She spent the rest of the money on personal expenses.

Battocletti’s sentencing has been set for Nov. 26. She faces up to 20 years in prison, up to three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.

A new survey has been released indicating the states where employees are the most unhappy with their jobs—and Alaska, America’s northern territory, has taken first place.

Knewz.com has learned that the study used data from the United States Bureau of Statistics, specifically the number of people resigning, to arrive at these conclusions.

The month of March 2024, saw 15,000 Alaskans walk out on their employers which equates to 4,5% of the northernmost workforce.

This apparent job dissatisfaction increased by 4,000 people since 2023 when the number of walkouts reached 11,000.

The state ranking second in the study was Wyoming where 3.4% of the population quit their workplaces during the same month. This figure translates to 10,000 people which, like Alaska, is higher than the number of walkouts experienced in 2023, even if only by 1,000 people.

Montana takes up third place with its 3% resignation rate for March 2024. The so-called Treasure State saw 16,000 of its citizens leave their jobs. While this figure dwarfs that of Alaska and Wyoming it is proportionate to the state’s population (1,142,746).

In fourth place is Idaho which saw 2.9% of its workers resign. This percentage translates to 25,000  of its population of nearly two million.

Fifth place is shared by Florida and Virginia where 2.8% of the workforce resigned. This figure amounted to approximately 273,000 and 20,000 job leavers respectively.  

Tennessee follows at sixth, with 2.6% of its workers handing in their resignation during March 2024.

For said month, Tennessee experienced around 88,000 workers resigning from their jobs—which unlike upward trending states spelled a decrease of 11,000 workers compared to March 2023 when 99,000 people (3%) left their jobs.

Seventh place is shared by Delaware, Kansas, and North Dakota. In these states, the job leaver percentage reached 2.5.

For Kansas, this means 37,000, 12,000 in Delaware, and 11,000 in North Dakota. 

The poll noted that seven states took eighth place with 2,4% of employees resigning and another seven scooping up ninth at 2.3%. 

Yet another seven fell in at the tenth position and a 2.2% with America’s most content workers hailing from Washington, Pennsylvania, and California.

The aforementioned areas boasted a 1.5% resignation rate in the sample month which translates to  55,000, 93,000, and 262,000 work leavers respectively.

Chief executive officer, John Hennessey at Hennessey Digital responsible for the study,  observed:

“From the results, it’s clear to see that a steady stream of workers across America are constantly leaving their jobs, be it for retirement or a different career. Louisiana experienced one of the largest changes, with an impressive 36% decrease in quitters between 2023 and 2024. It’ll be interesting to see if new states make the top ten ranking in the future.”

A new analysis by a personal injury law firm has revealed the list of states with the highest and lowest rates of medical malpractice reports in the United States.

Knewz.com has learned that the analysis deemed Idaho the state with the lowest rate of medical malpractice, with only 6 reports per 100,000 residents.

The analysis compiled the list using the number of Medical Malpractice or Adverse Action Reports filed in each state, obtained from the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB).

The law firm used state population data from the U.S. Census Bureau to calculate the average number of yearly medical malpractice reports per 100,000 residents.

According to the compiled data, the analysis crowned Idaho the top spot in the list of American states with the lowest medical malpractice rates.

The analysis placed the state of Hawaii right below Idaho, with only 7.3 malpractice reports per 100,000 residents.

The data also showed that the medical malpractice rate in the “Aloha State” is around 54.4% below the national average.

North Carolina came third on the list, reporting just 9.2 malpractice complaints per 100,000 residents. Missouri was placed fifth on the list, with a medical malpractice rate 36% below the national average.

Notably, New York has been placed sixth on the list, with only 10.5 reports per 100,000 residents.

The analysis also identified the most negligent medical practitioner types in each state, in addition to the most affected states.

For instance, the report found that Louisiana had the highest medical malpractice rate in the U.S., with 33.3 reports per 100,000 residents—notably more than double (108% above) the national average.

The analysis mentioned that the primary offenders in the state are Advanced Nurse Practitioners, which is also the case in Wyoming, where malpractice reports stand at 27 per 100,000 residents, placing the state third on the list.

It is worth noting that the state of Louisiana‘s health facilities came under question with the proposed bill nicknamed the “Bob Dean Protection Act” by the media.

Following the immense criticism the bill faced in public forums, Senator Patrick McMath refused to put the legislation up for a vote on the Senate floor.

It was reported that the proposed bill intended to make it more difficult to sue nursing home companies, hospitals, and other healthcare providers in the event of medical malpractice. Furthermore, the bill would also limit any financial awards from a successful healthcare lawsuit.

Andrew Muhl, state director of advocacy for the Louisiana chapter of the interest group AARP – formerly the American Association of Retired Persons – commented on the proposed bill, saying:

“We are disappointed to see nursing home companies make multiple attempts to shield themselves from responsibility and accountability regarding patient safety.”

The list of American states with the highest rates of medical malpractice reports placed Colorado in second place with 28.7 malpractice reports per 100,000 residents. The analysis, conducted by personal injury law firm Zinda Law Group, also found that the majority of the cases in the Centennial State were at the hands of Registered Nurses.

A spokesperson for the law firm emphasized the significance of the data and what the findings represent, saying, “The data highlights which states need to work to lower medical malpractice rates, which may be caused by inadequate training, high patient loads, or deeper systemic issues within workplace culture.”

“It may be helpful to look at the regulatory frameworks of states with fewer malpractice reports, like Idaho and Hawaii, to understand how they maintain these rates – and more importantly, draw correlations between the worst-affected states to see what factors elevate the likelihood of negligent practitioners,” the spokesperson added.

Kremlin spokesperson and staunch Vladimir Putin ally Dmitry Peskov has accused Vice President Kamala Harris of repeatedly making “unfriendly” comments about Russia and propagating hateful rhetoric against the nation.

Knewz.com has learned that Peskov‘s statement came amidst the rising chances of Harris becoming the Democratic Party’s Presidential nominee.

Kremlin spokesperson Peskov has indicated in his recent statements that the Russian administration is closely watching the current frontrunner for the Democratic Presidential ticket.

When asked by reporters earlier this week if Russia had expected this change in the Presidential nominee of the Democratic Party, Peskov said that recent years have taught Moscow politicians to “not be surprised” by any political developments in the United States.

“In recent years, what has been happening in the United States has taught us not to be surprised by anything… We were not very surprised,” the Kremlin spokesperson told reporters.

He added that Russia is currently more focused on the Ukraine war and achieving the goals of the “Special Military Operation.”

However, commenting on Harris as a potential presidential candidate, he pointed out that the Vice President has done nothing so far for the bilateral relations between Moscow and Washington and that her rhetoric towards Russia has always been rather “unfriendly.”

“At the moment, we cannot assess the potential candidacy of Ms. Harris from the point of view of our bilateral relations because so far her contribution to our bilateral relations has not been noticed,” Peskov said in his recent statement to reporters.

“There were statements that were replete with rhetoric quite unfriendly towards our country, but her actions in relation to bilateral relations come under neither a plus nor a minus sign.”

The statements Peskov is referring to might be the series of scathing criticisms of Putin and Russia by Vice President Harris on X, formerly known as Twitter, since the beginning of the Russian invasion.

The day after the Ukraine war commenced, Harris wrote on X: “All eyes around our country and the world are on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. I want to be clear that this is a war of choice. It is unprovoked, it is unwarranted, and it is unjustified.”

In February 2023, she described Russia as “horrendous,” “gruesome,” and “cruel,” and announced that the U.S. deemed Putin’s actions vi-a-vis Ukraine as war crimes.

“In the case of Russia’s actions in Ukraine, we have examined the evidence, we know the legal standards, and there is no doubt: These are crimes against humanity,” Harris was quoted as saying at the time.

“First, from the starting days of this unprovoked war, we have witnessed Russian forces engage in horrendous atrocities and war crimes.”

In June 2024, he once commented on the Ukraine war on X, this time calling the Russian aggression on the embattled nation “brutal.”

“As Russia continues its brutal aggression against the people of Ukraine, we are committed to help Ukraine rebuild. Today in Switzerland, I announced $1.5 billion to help Ukraine’s energy system, humanitarian needs, and civilian security,” she wrote.

The Joe Biden administration has been a thorn in Russia’s side, due to the aid it has provided and arranged for Ukraine over the course of the Russian invasion.

With the incumbent President bowing out of the Presidential race of 2024, Democrat supporters – and Biden himself – have shown significant interest in seeing Vice President Harris on the Presidential ballot.

Knewz.com previously wrote that reports from U.S. Intelligence officials suggested that Putin had secretly hoped for a second Donald Trump presidency this year. Considering this, the nationwide loss of confidence in Biden due to his advancing age might have worked in Russia’s favor had he stayed in the race.

However, with Harris having thrown her hat in the ring, Democrats have shown reinvigorated efforts to bolster her campaign.

It was reported that the Harris presidential campaign has been able to raise $81 million in just 24 hours. In addition, around 28,000 volunteers have registered to help with her campaign.

A soap opera actor known for his roles with horses has died after he toppled off a balcony and fell 13 feet to the ground below.

Knewz.com has learned that the 39-year-old Brazilian, Thommy Schiavo, had just returned from drinks with friends in the early hours of the morning when he toppled over the railing of his second-story Cuiabá balcony. 

CCTV footage of the incident reviewed by the local police depicted the star sitting and then lying on the floor before he got up and lost his balance.

Schiavo, best known for his role in the 2021 production, Panatanal, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The actor was also known for his dexterity with horses – hence one of his roles as a cowboy – and was often called upon to assist others who were unfamiliar with the animals.

According to his father, Horácio Ramos, Schiavo had just completed filming for a new production when he received the news.

He said: “It’s a painful moment, it hurts so much that there’s no way to explain it.”

“We spoke every day, every day it was ‘good morning, good afternoon’, he would call me for anything, I would call him for anything. He was such a dear person.”

“Thommy was a fantastic person, loved by everyone,” his father continued. “The people at Globo are all in shock there. He is a very loved person at Globo [a Brazilian television network]. He went there and won over the people, with his simple, humble way. Loved by everyone.”

Respects poured in for Schiavo with his sister, Thayna, saying “So much pain (…) It feels like they ripped my heart out with their hands, I feel [like I am] being stabbed in the chest,” on Instagram.

“Dear, I imagine your pain, there is no explanation for the sudden departure of your dear brother. I will be praying that our God brings comfort to your heart and that of your entire family. Live your grief with all your strength. Kisses,” responded a sympathizer.

Leandro Lima, who at a time acted alongside Thommy, wrote on Instagram:

“I’m still in a daze, trying to digest all of this. Thommy was a guy with a huge heart, always ready to help, he loved the countryside, animals and taking care of people. [I’m] Remembering him inviting everyone to watch a beautiful sunset.”

“A great partner in crime. You were always very careful with everyone and always willing to help, to collaborate. So sad, shocked by what happened! May your family receive my strong hugs. Great friend and excellent colleague,” wrote another co-star, Silvero Pereira.

Fans also weighed in with one saying: “May spirituality welcome you with lots of light and lots of love. And may God comfort the hearts of your family and friends.”

“What sad news! May God comfort you and your family and friends!!!! Rest in peace…” wrote another.

Whistleblowers have contacted the office of United States Senator Josh Hawley with claims that law enforcement personnel abandoned their post at the Pennsylvania rooftop from where Donald Trump was shot on July 13.

The whistleblowers alleged that law enforcement left the roof unguarded and went inside the building because it was too hot outside, Knewz.com has learned.

Senator Hawley wrote a letter to the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, informing him of the claims made by the anonymous whistleblowers.

On July 13, Trump was shot by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks in a failed assassination bid while he was speaking to a crowd of supporters at a Republican rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

It was reported that Crooks took aim at the Republican Presidential candidate from the roof of the American Glass Research building located around 400 feet away from the podium where Trump was standing at the time of the incident.

Witnesses have claimed that they saw the 20-year-old shooter making his way up the slope of the building’s roof, from where he fired a total of eight shots with lethal intent using his father’s AR-15-style semi-automatic rifle.

In the letter Senator Hawley wrote to Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas, he cited information relayed to him by a whistleblower “with direct knowledge of Secret Service planning for the event” who claimed that law enforcement personnel were specifically asked to guard the roof of the American Glass Research building.

However, the Missouri Senator’s source alleged that the assigned individual left their post due to “the hot weather.”

“The whistleblower further alleges that concerns over the heat prompted law enforcement to forego patrolling [American Glass Research] Building 6 and instead to station security personnel inside the building,” the letter mentioned.

He further mentioned in the letter that this information contradicts the public statements made by the U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly A. Cheatle “about the ‘safety’ of the sloped roof of American Glass Research Building 6.”

The public statement Senator Hawley is referring to appears to be the comments made by Director Cheatle during an interview on July 16, where she stated that the reason the Secret Service did not position personnel on the sloped roof of the building was due to safety concerns.

“That building in particular has a sloped roof, at its highest point… And so, there’s a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn’t want to put somebody up on a sloped roof. And so, the decision was made to secure the building, from inside,” Director Cheatle was quoted as saying.

In addition to relaying the claims made by the whistleblowers, Senator Hawley presented a few demands of his own to the Homeland Security Secretary.

The Senator “immediately” requested a copy of the Homeland Security Investigations’ report on the Trump assassination attempt, as well as the answers to three questions—demanding that they be answered before July 26:

“If the whistleblower’s allegations are accurate, when did the individual abandon the post?”

“Which law enforcement units were assigned to the roof? Please provide all security plans indicating which units were assigned to the roof and the building.”

And lastly, he demanded to know if “any law enforcement personnel fail to report to their assigned stations that day.”

The Senator published a copy of the letter to Secretary Mayorkas on X, formerly known as Twitter.

It is worth noting that Security Service Director Cheatle turned in her resignation from the post on July 23, amidst intense pressure from lawmakers in light of the assassination attempt on former President Trump.

“In light of recent events, it is with a heavy heart that I have made the difficult decision to step down as your Director,” Cheatle was quoted as saying by The Washington Post. “This incident does not define us… I do not want my calls for resignation to be a distraction from the great work each and every one of you do towards our vital mission.”

Both President Joe Biden and Secretary Mayorkas have released official statements regarding her resignation, thanking her for her service.

“Jill [Biden] and I are grateful to Director Kim Cheatle for her decades of public service. She has selflessly dedicated and risked her life to protect our nation throughout her career in the United States Secret Service,” President Biden wrote in a statement released by the White House.

“The independent review to get to the bottom of what happened on July 13 continues, and I look forward to assessing its conclusions. We all know what happened that day can never happen again. As we move forward, I wish Kim all the best, and I will plan to appoint a new Director soon,” the President added.

Mount Everest has claimed 300 intrepid souls since it was first climbed and now the Nepalese Government is making an effort to recover the bodies.

Knewz.com has learned that this decision follows the deaths of 18 people trying to scale the world’s highest peak in 2023 and another eight in 2024.

The local authorities have deployed a dozen soldiers and eighteen of the local Sherpas (an indigenous group known for their mountaineering skills) to collect the bodies.

While this was not the first such operation, it is certainly a virgin voyage in that the recovery process collected the icy bodies at an altitude above 26,247 ft—a part of the mountain better known as the “death zone”.

The operation which lasted 54 days and drew to a close on June 5, produced four dead climbers, one skeleton, and 11 tonnes of rubbish.

Major Aditya Karki, who led the 2024 mission explained why the operation was so important, saying:

“Nepal has received a bad name for the garbage and dead bodies which have polluted the Himalayas on a grave scale.”

He noted that sightings of dead bodies have an impact on climbers and cited an incident from 2023 when a climber suffered a 30-minute paralysis after seeing a dead body.

The task of recovering falls to the Nepalese authorities as the families of the fallen climbers are unable to reach them, and even if they can foot the bill, private companies which would otherwise repatriate remains, refuse to apply their services to Everest lest they meet the same fate.

According to reports, the price attached to the recovery of each body is $37,400—the reason being that it requires a team of 12 to collect a body from 26,247 ft.

Along with the latter, each person needs four cylinders of oxygen which cost around $400 apiece. Further complicating the process is the 15-day window that allows climbers to ascend the mountain beyond 26,247 ft; this only happens once a year.

Tshiring Jangbu Sherpa who was part of the clean-up expedition recalled the hardship created by the extreme altitude.

“It was very tough to bring back the bodies from the death zone. I vomited sour water many times. Others kept coughing and others got headaches because we spent hours and hours at very high altitudes.”

In 2012, Sherpa was a guide for an international climber. Nearing the summit the duo encountered the body of a Czech climber, Milan Sedlacek, who died a few days earlier.

His body would lie in the same place for more than a decade while other climbers were forced to step around it.

According to BBC News, Sedlacek is among the four to be recovered and only he and another (American Mountaineer  Roland Yearwood who perished in 2017) were identified due to documents found on them.

“Mountaineers have got famous from climbing. The Himalayas have given us so many opportunities,” Sherpa said.

“By doing this special job of retrieving dead bodies, it’s my time to pay back to the Great Himalayas.”
