Is Joe Biden two-faced?
The cognitively-challenged 81-year-old president was hesitant to end his re-election bid because he was worried his vice-president Kamala Harris couldn’t take on former president Donald Trump in November, three Biden aides have confirmed.
Biden’s “private anxieties” were recounted in the aftermath of his decision to fall on his sword and drop himself from the Democrats’ 2024 ticket.
His opinion about Harris’ weaknesses in a head-to-head showdown with 78-year-old Trump “reflect broader questions among some Democratic leaders about Harris as their nominee this November,” according to Axios, the website that first reported the news.
But those private concerns are also in stark contrast to what Biden said publicly on Sunday when he endorsed Harris, 59.
Biden said: “While it has been my intention to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president for the remainder of my term.”
In throwing his weight behind Harris as his replacement — publicly, at least — Biden described making her his vice president as “the best decision I’ve made”.
“Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”
But one aide to the current president said Biden’s real concerns about Harris’ candidacy were raised after he watched her treatment of staff.
One incident included when his veep interrogated her then-chief of staff, Karine Jean-Pierre, to the point that it made “others uncomfortable”.
While she might not have won Biden’s full support, Harris won a slew of support from the majority of House Democrats, 153 in total, with most Senate Democrats and twelve of the nation’s 23 Democratic governors also giving her the green light.
As Knewz.com previously reported, Harris launched what one top party official called an “impressive shock and awe campaign” to shore up her position as the would-be Democratic nominee.
One source told us: “Kamala moved swiftly to crush any potential opposition to her candidacy undertaking what is very unglamorous but necessary work.”
Harris learned of Biden’s shock decision in a series of phone calls on Sunday as she worked at the Vice President’s Residence and Office at Number One Observatory Circle in northwestern Washington, D.C.
Harris later said in a statement: “With this selfless and patriotic act, President Biden is doing what he has done throughout his life of service: putting the American people and our country above everything else.”
She added: “I am honored to have the president’s endorsement and my intention is to earn and win this nomination.
“Over the past year, I have traveled across the country, talking with Americans about the clear choice in this momentous election. And that is what I will continue to do in the days and weeks ahead.”

The Kamala Harris express has left the station.
The vice-president gorged on pizza with anchovies while wearing her alma mater Howard University hoodie and sweats in the hours after Joe Biden told her he was quitting the ticket in a political earthquake that effectively paves the way for a Harris-Donald Trump showdown at the ballot box, Knewz.com can reveal.
Harris, 59, had multiple phone conversations with Biden before he announced at 1:46 p.m. on Sunday that he was stepping aside, sources confirmed.
She then turned her ear to more than 100 Democratic leaders — speaking to each of them via phone — over a span of 10 hours in a makeshift campaign war room inside the Vice President’s Residence and Office at Number One Observatory Circle in northwestern Washington, D.C.
A Beltway insider told Knewz.com: “Kamala moved swiftly to crush any potential opposition to her candidacy undertaking what is very unglamorous but necessary work.”
David Axelrod, who was the chief strategist for Barack Obama, said the would-be Democratic nominee’s “impressive shock and awe campaign” had shored up her position.
“A lot of big dominos have fallen, including almost all of the major, potential contenders who might have challenged her,” he posted to X.
“Hard to see any other outcome here than her nomination.”
On Monday morning, the only potential contender to Harris was Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia, who was said to be considering rejoining the Democratic Party to vie for the presidential nomination.
Front-runner Harris had won the support of a majority of House Democrats — 153 — to start her week, with most Senate Democrats —32 — and twelve of the nation’s 23 Democratic governors following suit.
Polls also showed some positive signs for Harris, whose political pedigree includes becoming the first female, Black and South Asian attorney general in California history in 2010.
In NBC News’ latest national poll, conducted more than a week after Biden’s dismal debate performance but before the assassination attempt on Trump, Harris trailed Trump by 2-point margins among registered voters.
Similarly, a post-debate national Fox News poll found Trump ahead by 1 point against Harris (Trump 49%, Harris 48%) among registered voters.
A national CBS News/YouGov poll of likely voters conducted after the assassination attempt found Trump leading Harris by 3 points, 51% to 48%.
In New York Times/Siena College battleground polls of Pennsylvania and Virginia, Harris also performed 2 points better than Biden did among likely voters in these two states.
As we previously reported, Biden stepped aside from the Democrats ticket after a brutal 25-day revolt from top Democrats.
While he endorsed Harris and declared it was time for the Democrats “to come together” in a bid to beat Trump, the scandal of Biden’s cognitive decline and the White House cover-up of such hasn’t abated.
Top republicans joined Trump and running mate JD Vance in demanding Biden must leave the Oval Office immediately and called on Harris to invoke the 25th amendment.
The amendment allows the vice-president to become acting president when a president is unable to continue his duties, if for example, he or she becomes incapacitated due to a physical or mental illness.
But speaking exclusively to Knewz.com, a top campaign source warned Republicans to be “careful” about “jumping all over the 25th amendment” for fear it could backfire.
“Invoking the 25th amendment would allow Kamala Harris to effectively audition as president,” the insider said.
“Donald Trump’s hopes of regaining the White House best rest with keeping Biden in it, and his incompetence will eventually stain Kamala Harris too.
“Having Biden in the White House until election day also serves as a constant reminder about how she helped cover-up his obvious health issues!”

Donald Trump led a chorus of questions around whether an “infirm” Joe Biden is fit enough to serve out the final five months of his besieged presidency.
In a series of posts to Truth Social, the former president tried to turn the attention from his likely 2024 presidential contender Kamala Harris to 81-year-old Biden’s ability to run the country, writing: “Who is running our Country right now? It’s not Crooked Joe, he has no idea where he is. If he can’t run for office, he can’t run our Country!!!”
Trump even questioned whether Biden — who stepped aside from the Democrats ticket after a brutal 25-day revolt from top Democrats — was a “threat to Democracy.”
“If Joe Biden is not fit to run for President, he is not fit to serve as President,” Speaker of the House Mike Johnson added in a post on X.
“He must resign the office immediately.”
The Trump campaign in a statement added: “Biden is a national security threat in great cognitive decline and a clear and present danger to every man, woman, and child in our country.
“The question then to Kamala Harris is simple: knowing that Joe Biden withdrew from the campaign because of his rapidly deteriorating condition, does Harris believe the people of America are safe and secure with Joe Biden in the White House for six more months.”
Trump’s vice-presidential running mate, Senator JD Vance, echoed the message.
He insisted the Democrats should not get to remove Biden in the most “politically beneficial” method without also booting him from office.
“If Joe Biden cannot run for president, he cannot serve as president, and if they want to take him down because he is mentally incapable of serving, invoke the 25th amendment,” he told Jesse Waters on Fox News.
The 25th Amendment allows the vice-president to become acting president when a president is unable to continue his duties, if for example, he or she becomes incapacitated due to a physical or mental illness.
It is a dramatic twist of fate for Trump who faced the same call with just days left in his term.
The Democrat-controlled House of Representatives in 2021 passed a measure calling on then-Vice President Mike Pence and Trump’s Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment. Pence refused to do so.
A top campaign source warned: “The Republicans should be careful jumping all over the 25th amendment. It is the wrong move.”
“Invoking the 25th amendment would allow Kamala Harris to effectively audition as president,” the insider told Knewz.com.
“Donald Trump’s hopes of regaining the White House best rest with keeping Biden in it, and his incompetence will eventually stain Kamala Harris too.
“Having Biden in the White House until election day also serves as a constant reminder about how she helped cover-up his obvious health issues!”
For its part, the White House has insisted Biden, whose horrible debate performance in June ignited the political crisis, is still fit to serve.
The president’s physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor said in February that the president “is a healthy, active, robust 81-year-old male, who remains fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency.”
The president made the decision to withdraw from the race while isolating in Delaware after testing positive for Covid-19 — a condition Trump insisted was bogus and yet another cover-up.

Kamala Harris wants her day in the sun.
The veep is reportedly making her move as more and more top Dems lose their faith in doddery old Joe Biden.
Ex-U.S. Navy intelligence officer and right-wing politico Jack Posobiec claimed on X: “Massive drama right now in WH, Kamala advisors straight up telling Biden advisors it’s time to pass the buck, exact words used, per WH official. This is the first direct, open confrontation at the senior level.”
Although Biden has steadfastly refused all calls to drop out of the race in the wake of his recent debate debacle, he is said to be growing “more receptive” to the idea of withdrawing.
One senior advisor told CNN: “He’s being receptive. Not as defiant as he is publicly. He’s gone from saying, ‘Kamala can’t win,’ to ‘Do you think Kamala can win? It’s still unclear where he’s going to land but seems to be listening.”
The shift comes after shocking votes of no confidence from Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, two of the most high-profile and influential Democrats in the party.
Although other names like California Governor Gavin Newsom and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer have also been floated as potential last-minute replacements for Biden, many have pinned their hopes on the vice president.
According to a new Economist/YouGov survey released Thursday, per the Hill, 79% of Democrats would support Harris as the party’s nominee in November if Biden chose to step aside.
In a recent op-ed for Newsweek, former Ohio congressman Tim Ryan wrote: “After deep reflection over these past few days, I strongly believe that our best path forward is Kamala Harris.”
Other polls, however, haven’t been quite so favorable for Harris.
Research carried out by the analytics company BlueLabs on Tuesday found that other potential candidates like Whitmer, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, Maryland Governor Wes Moore, and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro all outperformed Harris in the battleground states Nevada, Arizona, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia.
The study said in its findings: “Voters are looking for a fresh face. Those more closely tied to the current administration perform relatively worse than other tested candidates.”

President Joe Biden is reportedly “seething” at Rep. Nancy Pelosi as key figures within the Democratic Party urge him to consider dropping out of the 2024 presidential race against former President Donald Trump, Knewz.com can reveal.
CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins revealed that President Biden is disheartened by the lack of support from his long-time ally, Nancy Pelosi, during this tumultuous period.
With only a little more than three months remaining until the election, calls for Biden to step aside are growing louder within the party.
This comes amidst concerns about his ability to secure victory in the upcoming November elections and lead the nation effectively.
Reports disclosed Pelosi’s openness to an open convention should President Biden choose not to run for reelection.
During a meeting with California Democrats, Pelosi emphasized the significance of a transparent selection process for the party’s next nominee in case Biden decides to withdraw.
The objective is to prevent the perception of a predetermined nomination for Vice President Kamala Harris, as revealed by sources privy to the discussion.
Adding to the pressure on President Biden, Rep. Zoe Lofgren, another close ally of Pelosi, publicly urged Biden to exit the race, citing concerns about his likelihood of defeating Trump.
She wrote: “Simply put, your candidacy is on a trajectory to lose the White House and potentially impact crucial House and Senate races down ballot.”
The growing chorus within the Democratic Party is causing distress for Biden as he grapples not only with the present calls to reconsider his candidacy but also with his health struggles related to COVID-19.
Despite the mounting pressure to drop out, Biden’s campaign remains firm in its stance that the president is committed to staying in the race.
Campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon reiterated Biden’s determination to defeat Trump. She told the hosts of Morning Joe: “Absolutely the president’s in this race. You heard him say that time and time again, and I think we saw on display last night exactly why.”

Joe Exotic is begging President Joe Biden to act!
The Tiger King star — real name Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage — told Knewz.com pleading with the 81-year-old POTUS to sign the Federal Prison Oversight Act after allegedly suffering six years of “unanswered abuse” in the prison system.
Maldonado-Passage said: “Something that was promised during the 2020 campaign and has gone to the waste side [wayside] until three months before the election. All while people have been dying from gross abuse of medical care, solitary confinement, poor diets and plain abuse within the federal prison system and why?
“Because it is one of the most corrupt organizations within our government because too many politicians have an invested interest in making money from the prison system.”
The Netflix-star-turned-inmate claimed the bill would “do absolutely no good” unless the staff at prisons were “held criminally responsible” for abusive acts including: “bringing in drugs and contraband, stealing things paid for by the BOP and taking it home, destroying facilities so friends and families can bid on fixing things, the abuse of inmates by depriving them of simple things such as hygiene material to bathe with, including no razor to shave, no comb [for] your hair and no brush for your teeth.”
Maldonado-Passage, who is serving more than 20 years behind bars after being found guilty of 17 charges including animal abuse and murder-for-hire, argued that he was punished for mistakes made by his “zoo manager and veterinarian” but the prison wardens aren’t being held responsible for their staff’s allegedly abusive behavior.
The 61-year-old continued: “The deaths and the lives to inmate’s innocent or not should lay on the shoulders of the people in charge. My abuse has gone unanswered for over 6 years now and no one has been held responsible. I can’t wait for them to assign an Ombudsmen so complaints can start being filed. I have over 100 complaints ready for reports to be made.”
The reality star’s plea for help from President Biden was released on Monday, July 15, two months after he slammed both the president and his opponent Donald Trump in a scathing interview.
Maldonado-Passage grumbled: “Trump never knows when to shut up and Biden can’t tell the truth to save his life. Neither one of them knows exactly what the average American person goes through out here to just get by and pay bills.”
He further accused both candidates of looking out for themselves and their own first.
The former zoo owner, who is also running for president from behind bars, told Newsweek: “That is why hundreds of millions donated to a campaign should be illegal because when in office they look out for their donors’ best interest first. That’s why I don’t want to take people’s money. If I can’t do this on my word, I don’t want the job.”

The wife of the man killed by an assassin’s bullet at a Donald Trump rally last Saturday refused a call from Joe Biden offering condolences.
Helen Comperatore, the widow of 50-year-old former volunteer fire chief Corey Comperatore, said: “I didn’t talk to Biden. I didn’t want to talk to him. My husband was a devout Republican and he would not have wanted me to talk to him,” Knewz.com can reveal.
She added: “I don’t have any ill will towards Joe Biden. I’m not one of those people that gets involved in politics. I support Trump, that’s who I’m voting for, but I don’t have ill will towards Biden. He didn’t do anything to my husband. A 20-year-old despicable kid did.”
Corey died protecting his wife and two daughters, Allyson and Kaylee, shielding them from a hail of gunfire with his own body when sniper Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire from a nearby rooftop.
Helen praised his decisive actions in an interview with the New York Post: “He’s my hero. He just said, ‘Get down!’ That was the last thing he said … Me and the kids were all there as a family. He was just excited. It was going to be a nice day with the family.”
The widow described her late husband as “a simple man” who “put his wife and kids first all the time.”
She noted: “I did nothing here. I didn’t lift a finger. He did everything.”
A GoFundMe campaign for the Comperatore family set up by a neighbor and friend has already collected more than $1 million in donations, blowing past its initial goal of $7,000.
Helen said: “The donations that are coming in across the community and across the country, it’s more than I can even imagine. It’s more than I can fathom, but he deserves it all. He deserves everything.”
Two other men, David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74, were critically injured in the shocking assassination attempt but are now in stable condition and expected to recover. A separate GoFundMe for all the victims’ families has raised nearly $5 million.
As support for the family has poured in from across the nation, Corey has been hailed as a hero by politicians on both sides of the aisle.
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, who directed flags to be flown at half-mast in his honor on Sunday, said: “Corey was a girl dad. Corey was a firefighter. Corey went to church every Sunday. Corey loved his community. Most especially, Corey loved his family.”
Although Helen said on Monday that she hadn’t heard anything or received any calls from Trump, NBC News reports that the former president has since reached out and spoken to a member of the family.

Ukraine, a prime beneficiary of the Joe Biden administration in terms of military aid, has weighed in on whether the 81-year-old incumbent president should still run for Office in November.
Knewz.com has learned that Biden’s recent public appearances have seemingly failed to invoke confidence among several soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The Ukraine war has been one of the most significant issues on the table for the upcoming U.S. Presidential elections.
While Donald Trump has been skeptical about American aid to Ukraine, Biden has been headstrong about helping Ukraine fight off the Russian invasion as much as diplomatically possible.
However, it seems concerns about his advancing age have seeped into the Ukrainian populace as well, especially the armed forces who benefit from the aid arranged by President Biden.
The concerns seem to have been exacerbated by Biden’s verbal gaffes at the recent NATO summit in Washington, where he referred to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as Russian autocrat Vladimir Putin.
Merely hours prior to the disastrous Putin-Zelensky mixup, the incumbent President mistakenly referred to Vice President Kamala Harris as former President Trump.
Following an array of unsatisfactory public appearances, the faith in Biden appears to be receding, even among Democrats, as senior members of the party are reportedly privately hoping for a change in candidacy.
It seems Ukraine has joined the “remove Biden from the Democrat presidential ballot” bandwagon, with several members of the nation’s military expressing a lack of confidence in the incumbent President.
A junior lieutenant at Ukraine’s 63rd Mechanized Brigade, who was only identified by the name ‘Pavlo’ due to security concerns, said in a statement that he found Biden’s performance at the June 27 Presidential debate “very bad.”
“I believe that (Biden) needs to be removed urgently… Any reasonable Democrat will be better than him,” Pavlo said.
While it is clear that Biden has ardent supporters in Ukraine, largely thanks to the military aid he has arranged for the embattled nation, Ukrainian soldiers are concerned about his performance at the November election nonetheless.
“Between the two (Biden or Trump) I would choose Biden… Despite his age and the fact that he needs to be more active, he is a friend of Ukraine, while Trump is a populist – maybe he (Trump) is a good businessman, but a good businessman and a good president are two different things,” said a drone operator named Oleh.
However, Oleh also pointed out that Biden is “unfortunately already old” and that “we need someone more active, productive and younger.”
Notably, concerns regarding Biden have spread to the lawmakers in Ukraine as well, as a source within the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament) conveyed to Kyiv Independent.
“To be honest, [Biden’s performance at the NATO summit] was a failure, I don’t think it looked very good… It was supposed to be such a winning summit for him (Biden) before the election, and unfortunately, this whole press conference only again underscored all the issues that appeared in the debate,” the source said.
At the first Presidential debate of the year, Biden was found stumbling his way to the end of his sentences while Trump appeared a lot more coherent and composed.
While talking about border security – another crucial topic for this year’s presidential election – Biden’s statement became increasingly unintelligible, with Trump grabbing the chance to reply: “I really don’t know what he said at the end of that sentence. I don’t think he knows what he said, either.”
Another notable example was when he tried to respond to a question about the national debt, and he trailed off toward the end of his response and ended his statement with another one of his verbal gaffes, saying, “We finally beat Medicare.”
Trump immediately pounced on the opportunity when it was his turn to respond: “Well he’s right, he did beat Medicare. He beat it to death and he’s destroying Medicare.”
With concerns about who might take the Oval Office in November, 63rd Mechanized Brigade junior lieutenant Pavlo mentioned that he would not want a Trump presidency. “I have a bad opinion about Trump and hope that he will not come to power… I believe that (the Americans) will not vote for him because there are wise people in the U.S.,” he said.
On the other hand, U.S. intelligence officials have claimed that Trump is exactly the person Putin wants to see reinstated to the White House.

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy heavily criticized Hollywood megastar George Clooney for his recent comments regarding President Joe Biden.
Knewz.com has learned that Clooney called for a new Democrat nominee to replace Biden in the 2024 Presidential elections.
Clooney recently penned his concerns regarding Biden’s advancing age and his performance at the June 27 Presidential debate, conveying his worries as an ardent Democrat supporter.
He mentioned that although he considers Biden a friend and “loved” his presidency the first time, he believes it is time the Democrats nominate someone else for the presidential ballot.
“In the last four years, he’s won many of the battles he’s faced. But the one battle he cannot win is the fight against time. None of us can,” Clooney wrote.
He also pointed out that the Biden he saw during the Democratic fundraiser ahead of the CNN debate, was the same person the world saw debating Donald Trump and stumbling his way to the end of a sentence—and sometimes failing.
“It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe “big F-ing deal” Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate.”
While concerns regarding Biden’s age and capability to run for Office have been raised every time he made a verbal gaffe – with Trump making it one of the key points of his Presidential campaign – the dissenting voices have never been as loud as they were after the debate.
Notably, Biden’s performance at the June 27 debate also led to prominent Democrats calling on him to take his name out of the running, with reports suggesting that the camp is already brewing a plan to help find his replacement.
While talking about border security at the debate – a rather crucial topic for this year’s presidential election – Biden’s statement became increasingly unintelligible, with Trump grabbing the chance to reply: “I really don’t know what he said at the end of that sentence.
Clooney wrote that the fear of a second-term Trump presidency has made supporters “ignorant” of “warning signs” Biden has shown, while repeatedly emphasizing that “this is about age” and “nothing more.”
“We are not going to win in November with this president. On top of that, we won’t win the House, and we’re going to lose the Senate,” Clooney wrote in his guest essay for The New York Times.
“This isn’t only my opinion; this is the opinion of every senator and Congress member and governor who I’ve spoken with in private. Every single one, irrespective of what he or she is saying publicly.”
However, the founder of Barstool Sports has pointed out something many have talked about on social media: why did Clooney call for Biden’s removal from the presidential ballot weeks after co-hosting a fundraiser for the President.
“George Clooney, what a hero this guy is. Comes forward today… and he’s like, ‘Guess what? The guy you saw on the debate? That vegetable? That’s f—— Biden, he’s a vegetable!’… [Clooney is] Acting like he’s doing some heroic thing like ‘We can’t have a vegetable run for President,'” Portnoy said in a video he posted on X.
“You just found out Biden was a vegetable three weeks ago? Where have you been for two years, everyone knows he’s a f— vegetable.”
“The guy cannot get on and off a stage without getting lost. He talks about dead people like he had lunch with them yesterday… He’s been a vegetable for two f—— years. Democrats don’t f—— care,” Portnoy added in his rant.
He further claimed that Democrats let Biden go ahead in the debate, despite Clooney, the Obamas, and everyone in the world being aware that Biden is a “vegetable,” because the party wants “to show the world that they have no choice but to f—— whack him.”
He further indicated that the Democrats likely want California Governor Gavin Newsom to run in his stead, saying, “You have the good-looking guy from California, Gavin Newsom, waiting. It’s all dirty politics.”
It was previously reported that Newsom has endorsed Biden in the Presidential campaign and has also stated that he would not run against Vice President Kamala Harris either in the event she replaces Biden in the upcoming election.
“The Democrats were fine for the last year-and-a-half, two years… putting a vegetable in our face. They’re fine with doing a fundraiser three weeks ago for a vegetable. So f— it! Let’s have Trump run [against] a head of lettuce,” Portnoy said.

Pop singer Taylor Swift and cultural icon Oprah Winfrey are likely to be some of the moderators of the possible “blitz primary”—where potential Democrats will duke it out for the presidential ballot, replacing Joe Biden in the run for Office.
Knewz.com has learned that the 81-year-old incumbent president has seemingly failed to invoke the confidence of his supporters following the first presidential debate of the year on June 27.
Biden’s performance at the June 27 debate has led to prominent Democrats calling on him to take his name out of the running, something that has infuriated the President.
Whether it was while voicing his criticism of challenger Donald Trump or trying to answer his allegations against his presidency, Biden was found stumbling his way through his statements, especially towards the beginning of the CNN debate.
While talking about border security – a rather crucial topic for this year’s presidential election – Biden’s statement became increasingly unintelligible, with Trump grabbing the chance to reply: “I really don’t know what he said at the end of that sentence.
Several senior House Democrats reportedly admitted to believing Biden should not run for Office anymore in a private meeting on Sunday, July 7.
The ones to have lost confidence in Biden as an able contender in the 2024 Presidential elections include Democrat Congressional Representatives Jerry Nadler and Joe Morelle of New York, Adam Smith of Washington, Jim Himes of Connecticut, and Mark Takano of California, sources have told The Wall Street Journal.
In the face of the ongoing turmoil regarding Biden’s candidacy, the Democrat camp has reportedly proposed a plan that would involve the incumbent president stepping down from the ballot and the party carrying out a “blitz primary” process ahead of the Democratic National Convention to determine his replacement.
It was reported by Semafor that the plan was the brainchild of Rosa Brooks, a Georgetown University law professor who served in the Obama and Clinton administrations and was a volunteer policy adviser to the Biden campaign in 2020, and Ted Dintersmith, education philanthropist and venture capitalist known to have donated to several Democrat campaigns.
“In the midst of malaise and crisis, we can forge an uplifting path,” the latter told the outlet.
As part of the proposed plan, potential candidates would be given a few days to announce their candidacy, following which the party would select six candidates with the most votes from delegates would “pledge to run positive-only [short] campaigns in the month leading up to the convention,” per Semafor.
In a bid to engage voters, the six candidates would engage in weekly forums during the month-long sprint curated by culturally relevant and popular celebrities. The list of possible curators reportedly includes names like Taylor Swift, Oprah Winfrey, and former First Lady Michelle Obama.
“We can limp to shameful, avoidable democracy-ending defeat. Or Democrats can make this Our Finest Hour. While we hope for help from Lord Almighty, the Lord helps those who help themselves,” the memo about the proposed plan states, according to Semafor. “We need to act. Now.”
News of the Democratic Party’s receding faith in his candidacy has reached Biden’s ears, as he dared disgruntled Democrats to run against him during a Morning Joe interview on Monday, July 8.
“I’m getting so frustrated by the elites … in the party. With any of these guys who don’t think I should run — run against me… Challenge me at the [Democratic National Convention, to be held in August],” Biden said in the interview, via OK! Magazine.
On the other hand, Radar Online reported that comedian and actor Whoopi Goldberg echoed the voices of those who still support the incumbent president on the TV show The View on July 8.
“I don’t care if he’s pooped his pants. I don’t care if he can’t put a sentence together. Show me he can’t do the job and then I’ll say, okay, maybe it’s time to go,” she said, per the outlet.
“Now, he had a bad night the first time that he went on and debated with Kamala Harris [in 2020], and everybody wanted him to quit then, saying: ‘You can’t talk to women like this’ or ‘You’re doing this wrong, you’re doing that wrong,” Goldberg added. “He came back, said, ‘You know what? I got it,’ and gave four years.”
