When our friend and advisor, Njerũ Danson Njoka of CŨCŨ STUDIOS, shared his intention to launch a crowdfunder to raise funds for the production of the 10th episode of 'Uli & Tata's African Nursery Rhymes' we were initially unsure whether to believe him! Through this campaign, our goal is not only to produce an episode set in his home town of Embu, but to also create a cultural and natural heritage archive of his community for generations to come. This is truly remarkable moment✨

Exploring Indigenous Wisdom in a Technological World As I go deeper into the role of indigenous wisdom in our algorithm-driven world, I've encountered fascinating content and insights, particularly a podcast that underscores the importance of this knowledge, especially for children. A striking example is how the Kamba language elegantly captures co-existence with nature. In Kamba, both a person ("mundu") and a tree ("muti") are referred to in terms that suggest they are animate, highlighting effortless connection with the natural world. This insight opens avenues for educational content. For instance, if we are going to teach eco-existence from early ages, we could begin with the lexicon. We could also replace less contextually appropriate nursery rhymes like "rain rain go away" with Uli & Tata's African Nursery Rhymes that celebrate essential elements such as seeds and rain, crucial for agricultural societies in Africa. Curious about how we can integrate indigenous education more broadly? Check out this insightful podcast on your favorite platform and join the conversation on reimagining education through the lens of indigenous knowledge! https://lnkd.in/esgRFFGn

Here’s a glimpse into the 2nd Episode of Uli & Tata’s African Nursery Rhymes! 🎶🌍 In this episode, our adventurous siblings, accompanied by their neighbour Kidi, journey to the shores of Nam Lolwe (also known as Lake Victoria), where Tuki imparts the lesson of self-acceptance through the children’s song ‘Winyo Gwo Bwombe’, featuring a bird that dances like a human. 🍄🍄 Uli & Tata’s African Nursery Rhymes is an animated series following the adventures of two siblings in search of Africa’s nursery rhymes! #uliandtata #africannurseryrhymes #culturalheritage #naturalheritage #adventure #animationkenya #animationafrica #talentahela #kifuture #sanaa4.0 #creationafrica #kidscontentafrica Alliance Française Nairobi
