Yesterday in #Ghana, we discussed recommitment, leadership, and effective collaboration in our SDGs journey. Dr. AGNES KALIBATA presented #AGRA's bold vision for opportunities to transform Africa's food systems and achieve the SDGs. 🌿 Africa's biggest opportunity still lies in the agriculture sector, with 65% of our people sitting in agriculture and Africa owning the biggest cultivatable land in the world. 🌿 Africa has the youngest population needing opportunities and the potential to grow, and we still have the biggest gaps. Meaning that any investment we make will give us the biggest dividend. 🌿 Closing the financing gap would require 20-40 billion dollars annually. This means building an enabling environment and creating the right policies for the private sector to invest in agriculture. 🌿 We need to harness the potential that exists and integrate frameworks like the #AfCFTA, the AUC-CAADP, and the AUDA NEPAD program for Infrastructure Development (PIDA) 🌿 We should focus on Africa's agroecology and potential through our food baskets. 🌿 We must be competitive by investing in research, extension, climate-smart technologies, land management... etc. 🌿 With 70% of the African population being accounted for the youth, we need to invest where their potential and opportunities are. 🌿 Last but not least, we need partnerships to achieve our goals and the aspirations of our people. #SDGActionSummit2024 #agriculture #inclusivity SDGs Advisory Unit Office of the President Ghana SDGs Ghana at Presidency
