  • Disaster Surveillance Systems are crucial components of the Global Health Security Agenda. They provide real-time data and analytics to monitor and respond to health emergencies, from natural disasters to pandemics. These systems enable us to identify outbreaks early, coordinate international response, and enhance preparedness. ACHAP's active involvement in disaster surveillance not only complements governmental and international efforts, but also ensures a more inclusive and comprehensive approach to managing health emergencies and strengthening health systems in Africa towards achieving global health security. As a faith-based organization, we leverage our deep-rooted community trust and extensive networks to gather and disseminate critical health information quickly and effectively. We are continuously learning to ensure that we stay aligned with the GHSA goals, and support communities to better respond to health emergencies. #GlobalHealthSecurity #GHSA #DisasterSurveillance #PublicHealth #GlobalHealth #HealthSecurity #InfectiousDiseases #HealthSystems #EmergencyPreparedness #OneHealth

  • Education is a fundamental right, and it is essential for the growth and development of every child. Unfortunately, many children in Africa face barriers to education, particularly those affected by HIV. It is crucial that we address and eliminate these obstacles to ensure that no child is left behind. Children living with HIV often face stigma and discrimination that hinder their access to education. We must work together to provide comprehensive support systems for affected children, educate communities to combat stigma and misinformation, and ensure schools are safe, inclusive, and supportive environments. As we approach the Day of the African Child, we encourage you to join us in advocating for access to health services to the many children in Africa living with HIV who are not yet on antiretroviral treatment, and breaking down systemic barriers to ensure inclusivity in education. Join us this Saturday, 15th June at PCEA South C, Nairobi, where we will be co-hosting the Day of the African Child commemoration event along with our partner INERELA+. As you plan to attend this key event, please show your support for the #10MillionCampaign by clicking on the link below. We look forward to seeing you there! https://lnkd.in/dFwX4UBP #DayOfTheAfricanChild #EducationForAll #HIVAwareness #InclusiveEducation #TheTimeIsNow

  • Poor menstrual hygiene has far-reaching consequences: 📚 Education Disruptions: Girls in resource-poor settings often miss school due to challenges in managing menstruation, including lack of privacy and inadequate water and sanitation facilities, which negatively impacts their education. 😔 Stigma and Shame: Societal stigma around menstruation leads to shame and embarrassment, discouraging open discussions and hindering progress in menstrual health. ⚕️ Health Risks: Limited access to menstrual products and proper hygiene practices can cause infections and discomfort. At ACHAP, we view menstrual health as a critical health and human rights issue. Our actions towards integrating menstrual health in our cross-cutting interventions in women's health include: 🔹 Health-Centered Approach: Recognizing menstruation as a health issue with physical, psychological, and social dimensions, we aim to destigmatize it and promote holistic well-being throughout a person's life span. 🔹 Access and Empowerment: We advocate for providing access to menstrual products, water, sanitation, disposal facilities, and education. We emphasize competent and empathic care to ensure menstruation is seen positively. 🔹 Collaboration and Measurement: We encourage collaboration among policymakers, program managers, and humanitarian organizations to meet comprehensive menstrual health needs and stress the importance of monitoring and measuring the impact of these efforts. By advocating for menstrual health as a basic human right, ACHAP aims to create a more equitable world where girls and women can fully participate in education, work, and social activities without the burden of menstrual stigma and inadequate resources. Let's break the barriers and support menstrual health for all! 🌍💪 #MenstrualHygieneDay #MenstrualHealth #EducationForAll #EndTheStigma #ACHAP #HealthAndHumanRights #Empowerment #Collaboration

  • Mental health is a critical component of overall health, yet it has often been overlooked in health programs across Africa. As we continue to address physical health challenges, it's imperative that we also prioritize mental well-being. We are excited to be part of the CCIH regional meeting in Limuru, Kenya, where we will be learning and sharing our experiences on navigating #MentalHealth in programming. ACHAP continues to champion the integration of mental health into health programs across Africa. Together, we can foster environments where mental health is valued as much as physical health, creating stronger, healthier communities. #MentalHealth #Africa #HealthanHealingforAll #Wellbeing #SustainableDevelopment #HealthPrograms #CommunityHealth

  • Today, on World Hypertension Day, we recognize the silent but pervasive threat of hypertension. Affecting 1 in 3 adults globally, it is a leading risk factor for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), which remain the world's number one killer. At ACHAP, we are proud to mark this day through our #HealthyHeartAfrica partnership with AstraZeneca. Launched in 2014, HHA is dedicated to tackling hypertension and reducing the burden of CVDs across Africa. HHA has so far screened over 54.4 million and met its objective to reach 10 million people with elevated blood pressure ahead of its commitment by 20251. To date, ACHAP has led cardio-vascular health interventions in Côte d'Ivoire, in addition to the expanded multiple grant countries, mainly Malawi, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, making significant strides toward this goal. Our approach combines education, awareness, and increased access to affordable healthcare. We collaborate with local health systems, community organizations, and governments to deliver sustainable and impactful healthcare solutions. By raising awareness about hypertension and promoting healthy lifestyles, we can prevent many CVD-related deaths and improve the quality of life for millions. Join us in this vital effort to combat hypertension and support heart health worldwide.   #WorldHypertensionDay #HealthyHeartAfrica #HypertensionAwareness #CardiovascularHealth #SustainableHealthcare #HeartHealth
