🏃♂️*Exciting Day at the Sugadaira Skyline Trail!* 🏃♀️ On June 29, 358 brave athletes raced across the beautiful Sugadaira Highlands in Nagano Prefecture for the 17th annual Sugadaira Skyline Trail. After meeting Mayor Tsuchiya of Ueda-City, Gregor Muischneek, Head of the Economic & Financial Section of our Embassy, participated and completed the race in an impressive time of under 2 hours! Invigorated by the cool weather, he kept his smile on throughout the entire race. Many of our colleagues at the Embassy love staying physically active, whether it’s cycling, running marathons, or even surfing! The Sugadaira Highlands, where the event took place, are often referred to as the "Davos of Japan." Davos is one of the largest resorts in #Switzerland. Surrounded by breathtaking mountains views, visitors can enjoy a variety of activities such as hiking, biking, skiing and more. In 1976, the city of Davos and Ueda City (formerly Sanada Town), where the Sugadaira Highlands are located, established a #sistercity affiliation. In 2008, the alliance was formed between the Skyline Trail Sugadaira and the Swiss Alpine Davos Marathon (78.5 km, the longest in the world). The ties between the two municipalities were further strengthened with the signing of a sister race agreement, celebrating the most spectacular ultra mountain course in the world. 🇨🇭🇯🇵 📸Marathon photos by Fields

Did you know that a key component for the "fairing" of Japan's next-generation mainstay rocket "H3" will actually be made in Switzerland? Beyond Gravity, a Swiss company, is in charge of manufacturing the fairing for the new HTV-X1, the H3's cargo transporter to the ISS, that will be launched next year. The JAXA: Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency new flagship H3 #rocket, which will be launched today from the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima Prefecture just after noon, has three more launches planned before the HTV-X1 mission. Why #Swissmade? Well…. Switzerland's advanced #innovation, #research and #craftsmanship in the “#Space” field have been covered by a number of reliable Japanese media such as WIRED JAPAN, the Sankei Shimbun, the The Mainichi Newspapers, HuffPost Japan, the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, Nikkei Xtech, and others., thank to a press trip organized by Presence Switzerlandand the Embassy of Switzerland in Japan Read the articles and find out what is the Swiss secret: https://lnkd.in/dRbHHSfB The launch of the H3 rocket is scheduled on July 1, from 12:06:42 - 12:19:34 (JST) Check the JAXA's page for more details on the live broadcast https://lnkd.in/dsGkia49 ご存じでしたか?
