We administrate databases for a multi-site high availability SOC 2 SaaS system running 24/7/365 that securely stores and processes large, frequently changing datasets including PHI and PII. Responsibilities:

  • Support day-to-day operations and management of over 50 enterprise-level production database instances in development, testing, staging and 24/7/365 production environments

  • Manage the backup and recovery program including performing manual as well as scheduled/automated backups and restores of production and non-production databases.

  • Conduct routine index and statistics maintenance

  • Ensure high levels of data availability and database performance

  • Troubleshoot and remediate incidents, sharing in on-call rotations

  • Install, configure, update and migrate SQL Server Instances, both standalone and as part of an AG

  • Monitor, tune and optimize performance at the server, instance, database and object level including execution plan analysis and optimization.

  • Monitor, tune and optimize storage.

  • Continuously improve processes and procedures

  • Automate administrative processes

Qualifications:

A successful candidate must…
  • Excel at working both independently and collaboratively

  • Have a minimum 8 years of database administration experience including MSSQL 2017, 2019 and 2022

  • Be experienced in

    • database backup and other maintenance tasks

    • enterprise SQL monitoring tools

    • query performance tuning

    • replicating data to meet HA/DR objectives, in particular with AlwaysOn Availability Group Clustering

  • Have a Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, software engineering, similar degree, or comparable work experience

  • Demonstrate strong English written and spoken communication

  • Create effective technical documentation and operating procedures related to database administration

  • Possess deep SQL and T-SQL knowledge

  • Be fluent in database security risks and mitigations

  • Have successfully planned and lead projects
