 General Description:

 The Director of Sales & Marketing is responsible for managing and directing the marketing
and sales departments For Marketing this would include all meetings / special events for the
Optical Retail Group. This position is responsible for developing overall marketing plans
based on the division’s strategic objectives, goals and strategy. The position creates,
implements, and oversees communication programs which effectively describe and promote
the division and its products. The position monitors and evaluates marketing communication
strategy to ensure the marketing objectives are supported and to maximize positive
exposure in relevant markets.
For Sales, this position will lead and manage the sales team to drive sales growth. This role
requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in sales leadership, preferably
in ​media and/or the optical industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing
and implementing sales strategies, overseeing the sales team, and achieving sales targets. 

In addition, the Director of Sales & Marketing supervises a staff of employees who are
responsible for the execution of specific programs, advertising campaigns, trade shows,
sales in specific sales territories and all meetings and special events.
Job Responsibilities:

 -Direct the implementation and execution of marketing programs, campaigns and
trade shows.
- Direct all meeting management, promotion, & ticket sales. Contribute / conceptualize
meeting content, and program design.
- Ensure marketing communications are coordinated, support the overall marketing
plan objectives and adhere to budget requirements.
- Manage marketing services department, including development and distribution of all
marketing/sales collateral.
-  Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to drive​ revenue growth. -
Identify market opportunities and customer needs to shape sales initiatives. - Set and
achieve sales targets in line with the company’s growth objectives. 
- Foster a positive team environment and promote a culture of high performance. ​Meet
with the sales team on a regular basis in team and one-on-one meetings to assess
progress in relationship to stated goals.
- Maintain awareness of market research to stay updated on industry trends​, need
gaps and competitor activities. - Gather and analyze customer feedback to improve
the value proposition. - Use data-driven insights to refine sales approaches and
strategies. 
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and partners. - Negotiate
contracts and close deals with major clients. - Ensure high levels of customer
satisfaction and retention. 
- Oversee the sales pipeline and manage the sales process from lead generation to
closure. - Utilize CRM systems to track sales activities and performance metrics. -
Collaborate with marketing, product development, and customer support teams to
align efforts and enhance the customer experience. 
- Reporting and Analytics:** - Prepare regular sales reports and forecasts for senior
management. - Analyze sales data to identify trends and areas for improvement. -
Provide actionable recommendations based on sales performance and market
analysis.
- Hire, train and develop staff members.
 -Provide coaching, feedback and mentoring to staff.
- Proactively address employee performance issues and complete performance
reviews.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration or Marketing or related field or equivalent work experience required.
  • 8-10 years Marketing experience required.
  • 5+ years management experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and get results through others.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills at strategic and tactical levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including presentation skills required.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Adobe suite, HTML/web design, Google Analytics and eblast management systems.

This role will be based out the Newark, NJ office. 

 Travel:

  • Travel required – up to 50%.
