Village Pitches Downtown Party

Starting June 10, Tufts Park (in the center of downtown Pinehurst) will transform into a local championship hub with a golf simulator, a putting green, photo ops and a 9’X12′ LED screen that will& livestream the action.

The park will host food trucks and a beer garden on Wednesday, June 12 and Saturday, June 15 — and there will be full lineup of events, starting as early as 8 a.m. and running as late as 10:30 p.m. all week long. See the schedule.

  • The village will also instate a temporary social district. Sip and stroll while sipping bevvies from a local bar or restaurant from June 10-16. See the map.
  • Access to some facilities will be limited, and the Pinehurst splash pad will be closed. Cannon Park will be used for parking — before 5 p.m., permits will be required; after 5 p.m., it opens to the public, and shuttles will run downtown all evening.

All events and shuttles are free and open to everyone. Get more info here.

Don’t Skip a Night Out

Sure, a bunch of polo-wearing pros, crews and tourists will descend on Pinehurst the week of the Open, but don’t let that stop you from dining at your favorite restaurants or missing the fun. Here’s what some Village businesses are doing:

  • The Pine Crest Inn
Dogwood Road will be closed for a block party from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Bands will play live music in the street, and food and drink will be served inside the restaurant as well as under an outdoor tent.
  • Elliotts on Linden
The restaurant is nearly completely booked, with the exception of some openings on Monday, June 10 and Tuesday, June 11, after the U.S. Open practice rounds.
  • Maxie’s Grill & Tap Room
They’re expecting a “madhouse” and will be adding a tent outside and plus more live music to the schedule.
  • Agora Bakery and Cafe
Sip beer, wine, Prosecco, cocktails and mocktails or take them to go.
  • Lisi Italian
Normally closed on Sundays, Lisi will be open on both Sunday, June 9, and Sunday, June 16. Their bar, Augie’s, will be open and serving as well.
