R. Riveter’s motto is “Bags on a mission” and this week is no different, with the U.S. Open in town, they’re on a mission to sell out.

The USGA partnered with R. Riveter on special U.S. Open branded bags. They previously partnered during the 2022 U.S. Women’s Open but on a smaller scale and under consignment. This year, the USGA bought roughly 500 products ahead of time between bags and candles.

As of Monday, the merch tent is scarce with many of the exclusive R. Riveter and U.S. Open collab bags. R. Riveter sent over several designs, with nylon and special colors that were to be exclusive to the merch tent inside the U.S. Open gates, and a couple of canvas designs to be sold in the flagship store in downtown Southern Pines.

Since the bags were leaving the shelves so quickly, flagship manager and creative director, Laura Vien said she had to pull the canvas bags from the store to have more inventory in the merchandise tent. “It’s a good problem to have,” said Laura.

There are currently more bags being made but only around 30 more will be replenished. “We aren’t fast-fashion, it takes time,” said Laura.

R. Riveter employees are constantly manning their shelves in the main Merchandise tent. Laura was there nearly every day June 6-9 when the tents were open to non-ticket holders and said the majority of people she talked to were Moore County locals. As of Monday she noticed a shift. “Today when I was asking people if they were local they’d say something like ‘yes, Raleigh’ so now we’re talking North Carolina local,” said Laura.

Vien is eager to see what happens the rest of the week with the R. Riveter products. “This is the one time you can get a bag like this, it makes it exciting. Everyone wants one,” she said.
