Dew It To It

Friday, June 21: Catch the grand opening of the Dewberry Café, a spot for breakfast and lunch that shares a building with an antique store in downtown Cameron. The restaurant is a take on the building’s former (and well-loved) Dewberry Deli, which operated for longer than some of us have been alive.

Lura Heichel purchased the building from Ken and Jane Fairbanks last year, and has worked with her son-in-law Donovan Hamilton to bring the restaurant back to life while keeping the antique shop running upstairs. They’ve kept the red booths, black-and-white tile and vintage barstools, and expanded the dining room into the space next door.

The name, of course, pays homage to the town’s history as the Dewberry Capital of the World — and thanks to the restaurant’s dewberry pancakes, parfait and cobbler, after a trip here you can actually say you’ve tried them. Does that dew it for you? Get a taste of what else is on the menu.
