Role Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Project Cost Controller to join our dynamic team in newcleo. The Senior Project Cost Controller will play a critical role in managing and overseeing the financial aspects of our Research and Development projects, ensuring they are completed within budget and according to financial guidelines. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent analytical skills, who can work collaboratively with engineering team, project managers, finance teams, and other stakeholders to drive financial performance and efficiency.

 

Main Activities

 

  • Cost Management: Develop and maintain project cost control systems, including budgets, forecasts, cost reporting, and financial analysis.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Prepare, review, and update project budgets and forecasts in collaboration with project managers and the finance team.
  • Financial Reporting: Generate accurate and timely financial reports, including variance analysis, cost performance reports, and financial summaries for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential financial risks and develop mitigation strategies to manage cost-related risks effectively.
  • Change Management: Monitor and manage project changes, ensuring all financial impacts are documented, approved, and reflected in the project budget and forecasts.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with project managers, finance teams, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on financial objectives and provide regular updates on project financial status.
  • Cost Control Procedures: Develop and implement in collaboration with FR and UK colleagues cost control procedures and best practices to improve efficiency and financial performance.
  • Audit and Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal financial policies, procedures, and external regulatory requirements. Assist with internal and external audits as needed.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of project cost control activities.

 

Desired Qualification

 

Education:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. 
  • A professional certification such as CPA, CMA, or PMP is appreciated.

 

Languages:    

 

  • Fluent Italian and English. 
  • French is appreciated.

 

Experience / Professional requirements:

 

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in project cost control, financial analysis, or related roles, with a proven track record of managing project finances successfully.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in financial software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, project management software).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • In-depth understanding of project management principles, cost control methodologies, and financial reporting standards.
