We are looking for an experienced Purchasing Manager motivated to join the opening team of the Hyatt Regency Rome. The role will report to the GM and is highly strategic to drive cost efficiency across all departments and create solid foundations for the hotel operations.

 

He/she will be responsible for managing all purchasing activities to guarantee compliance with brand and company policies, adherence to the annual budget and a high-quality level of products and supplies.

 

Main duties and responsibilities:

- To set up the purchasing department for the hotel during the start-up phase

- To define guidelines and procedures taking into considerations eventual brand requirements

- To support the technical team in the purchasing / tendering processes with regards to acquisition of  FF&E and OS&E in the preopening phase.

- To identify best suppliers/partners considering, among other things lead times, standardization, quantity discounts, and purchasing budgets.

- To engage in value analysis to achieve cost savings without sacrificing quality.

- To continuously review and manage the supplier’s list by identifying potential suppliers, conducting vendor visits and stablishing value-add long-term partnerships.

- To be informed about technological innovations and to review lower cost substitute materials with all departments.

- To manage supplier relations for maximum mutual benefits.

- To identify and select suppliers, including order follow up and vendor file management.

- To negotiate and review purchase orders, contract or work orders required by other departments.

- To conduct a comprehensive market survey at minimum every quarter.

- To deal with customs and local authorities for purchasing related matters when required.

- To understand and strive to meet financial goals with respect to key performance indicator provided by management.


Skills and requirements:

-  6-8 years of experience in hotel sector with proven track record to cover a similar role.

-  Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management.

-  Strong leadership capabilities.

-  Fluent in Italian and English language, both spoken and written.

-  Market researching tactics, negotiation skills and marketing capabilities.

-  Experience in using purchasing tools and software to execute the role.
