    𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 Idroconsulting is thrilled to share details about a new project in Belgium!   The team is working on a demineralized water production package that will be part of a new 875 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant in Flemalle, near Liege, owned by Engie Electrabel. The power plant’s commissioning is foreseen for the mid of 2025 and will replace a pre-existing power plant from ‘70 (Les Awirs). This brand-new power plant will be able to supply electricity to nearly 700,000 families.  Demineralized water plays a key role in Power Plants: all the cycles where water is used shall be carried out with demineralized water, to avoid scaling and corrosion of metallic materials. In this specific power plant a combined cycle will be performed: both a gas turbine and a steam turbine will be used, converting in electricity the energy coming from the combustion flue gases with a reduced environmental impact. The package supplied by #Idroconsulting, that will be shipped and commissioned in summer 2024, will cover around 500 m2 of the plant area. It will be able to treat two different water streams: rain water collected from the roofs, and well water naturally present in the area. These streams are pre-treated to eliminate bacteria and dissolved solids with sand filtrations and dedicate chemical dosing. Cationic and Anionic exchange resins complete the treatment line to obtain demineralized water with high purity levels. This #process allows the reduction of the biological sludge produced, which is therefore more stabilized and settleable. The #treatment plant provides the proper environment, sufficient oxygen and other elements which allow the aerobic bacteria and other micro-organisms to consume the organic matter and to live and multiply within the treatment plant. Neutralization takes place by dosing acid or soda and controlled by pH-meters. Dosing can be done either by gravity or with dedicated pumps. Two dryer and purification units have been shipped in Portugal, for the expansion of the Repsol's polymer plant located in Sines. The expansion project of the Portuguese petrochemical hub involves the implementation of two new polyolefin plants, a polypropylene unit and a linear polyethylene unit. IDC managed to win this project thanks to the most advanced technologies for this system and ensuring maximum energy efficiency and the highest environmental standards. Cooperation with the Customer and Subcontractors allowed Idroconsulting to find the most suitable solution to satisfy the needs of the End User. These units represent the largest industrial investment in Portugal in the last 10 years and will have a capacity of 300,000 tonnes per year each. The stringent requirements in terms of environmental protection and cutting-edge technology making the Sines Industrial Complex one of the most advanced in Europe for flexibility and high level of integration.     𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐁𝐎𝐍 𝐅𝐎𝐎𝐓𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐓 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐃𝐄𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐁𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐙𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 The carbon footprint is the parameter that allows us to determine the environmental impacts that human-made activities have on the climate change and global warming of the planet. The gases taken into consideration to estimate the footprint are carbon dioxide (CO2), hence the name, methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), hydrofluorocarbons (HFC), perfluorocarbons (PFC) and sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) . This is basically an important indication of the equivalent quantity of carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted into the atmosphere both directly and indirectly. This value measures the surface area needed by the human population to produce the resources it consumes and is applicable to individuals, cities, or companies. It is calculated through the analysis of data relating to direct emissions (i.e. those produced by our means of transport, heating, etc.) and indirect emissions (i.e. those resulting from the use of electricity used in our work or production of goods and services). The capture of CO2, its valorisation and its reuse constitute a fundamental step for the reduction of greenhouse gases and therefore for the achievement of the climate objectives for containing the rise in the planet's temperature. To achieve climate neutrality by 2050, the contribution of technologies for the capture and valorisation of CO2 will be fundamental.
