The common misconception that wounds heal faster in the fresh air is actually false. In reality, without proper protection, dirt, germs, and bacteria can more easily penetrate the open wound. This can lead to infections or delayed healing. More severe wounds should heal in a moist environment to allow the body's natural healing processes to function optimally.

What do you know about care systems and nursing around the world? Together, we take a closer look at how the care and nursing sector works in different countries, this time focusing on Spain. Care can become necessary at any age. However, older people are disproportionately affected. Age-related limitations play a major role here. In Spain, 49% of the population aged 65 and over are affected by such and other limitations, although only around a quarter of those affected are severely disabled. In general, life expectancy in Spain is relatively high compared to the rest of the world. From the age of 65, people in this southern European country can expect to live an average of another 21.4 years, with around half of these being healthy years without major limitations. At 44%, the proportion of healthy additional years after the age of 65 is slightly lower for women than for men (56%). What else do you know about the care system in Spain?
