Until recently, the iSchool Institute, a unit in the Faculty of Information, offered continuing education programs and online distance courses to Information Professionals based in Canada.
However, the Faculty of Information has transferred the delivery of continuing education programs and online distance learning courses for Information Professionals to the University of Toronto’s School of Continuing Studies (SCS).
Please access the enclosed link to find out more about Information-based certificate studies and programs offered by SCS or to register: https://learn.utoronto.ca/programs-courses/certificates/records-information-management.
Please contact us at ischool.institute@utoronto.ca if you have any questions regarding previous courses that you have taken with the iSchool Institute.
In the 21st Century, public libraries face unique issues that warrant focused thought, research, discussion, and visioning. The Public Library Leaders (PLLeaders) program, a partnership of the iSchool at the University of Toronto and the Canadian Urban Libraries Council / Conseil des Bibliothèques Urbaines du Canada (CULC/CBUC), is about the future of public libraries and the changing communities they serve.
This 18-month program is designed to engage seasoned library managers who have the desire and potential for the highest levels of leadership in public libraries. It exposes them to themes, case studies, experiences, and relationships with outstanding current leaders to augment their preparedness. The Program includes frank and confidential sessions (in-depth “site visits”) with senior library executive teams, an instructional program with key learning outcomes, individual mentorship opportunities, and personal and online networking within a close 20-member cohort of colleagues.
Graduates of this Program, who are awarded the Certificate in Public Library Leadership, have had a strong record of success in top leadership positions in Canada’s urban public libraries.
