Later this year, the first Airbus aircraft will join the Icelandair fleet. This week we signed an agreement with CAE Civil Aviation to take delivery of a state-of-the-art full-flight simulator for the Airbus A320-family. This is the first simulator of its kind in the country, and we will use it to continue providing world-class pilot training in Iceland. Exciting times ahead! ✈️ Read more: bit.ly/4eG3rGE

On June 19, 1999, it was noteworthy for us to have an aircraft flown by an all-female crew for the first time. Twenty-five years later, it’s heartwarming to see how far we’ve come: two crews that flew today were all-female, and this is just a regular day. Plus, one of the pilots on that 1999 flight is now Icelandair’s chief pilot. We're proud that Iceland leads the world on the path to gender equality. We’ll certainly be doing all we can to achieve that goal! Learn more: bit.ly/4esg4oF

Happy Icelandic National Day! Or in Icelandic, Gleðilegan þjóðhátíðardag! Today, across the country and on board our aircraft, we’re celebrating our national day. On June 17, 1944, Iceland was formally proclaimed an independent republic. The date is marked each year with parades and unique celebrations of local culture, from poetry reading by Fjallkonan (‘The Lady of the Mountain’), to marching bands and street performers, together with lots of flag-waving. If you’re here in Iceland, we hope you enjoy the day.
