The University of Georgia seeks to assist faculty in transforming undergraduate courses to actively engage students in their learning by using innovative, evidence-based instructional practices. The Office of Instruction assists schools and college to enhance various instructional spaces across campus to further support active engagement of students.

Active learning is a student-centered approach to teaching and learning that emphasizes the construction of knowledge and reflection on that learning process.

To strengthen UGA’s culture of active learning, the University is enhancing instructor development in active learning pedagogies, supporting student understanding of the impact of active learning on their growth and supporting their engagement in the classroom, and enhancing classrooms across campus to provide the greatest flexibility in implementing active learning approaches. This initiative focuses on three areas: instructor development, student engagement, and classroom enhancement.
