T20 WORLD CUP TEAMS

The Men's T20 World Cup 2024 will feature 20 teams competing across 55 games for the right to be crowned the World T20 champion. Of these 20 teams, USA, Canada, Uganda and Papua New Guinea are making their World Cup debuts at the T20 World Cup 2024.

Team India head into the T20 World Cup 2024 as the top-ranked team in the world in the ICC T20 rankings list followed by Australia, England, West Indies and New Zealand in the top 5. India are the only Asian team in the top 5 with Pakistan (World No 6), Sri Lanka (World No 8), Bangladesh (World No 9) and Afghanistan (World No 10) rounding off the top 10 ranks heading into the T20 World Cup.

India won the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 event held in South Africa in 2007/08, but have never replicated that performance at the T20 World Cup. England (2010 and 2022-23) and West Indies teams have won the title twice each, while Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Australia have all won the edition once so far.

Of these 55 games, there will be 40 matches in the first round, followed by the Super 8s, followed by the semi-finals in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana. In the Super 8s phase, the eight teams will be split into two groups during the Super 8s, where all teams will have to play three matches against their group rivals to determine the semi-finalists.

Team India, led by Rohit Sharma, will start their campaign against Ireland on June 5 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. The same venue will also host the much-awaited game between arch-rivals India and Pakistan on June 9. The Men in Blue have only won the T20 World Cup title in the inaugural edition back in 2007.
